Sooo I send my resume for a job at 8:03am Wed. morning. I get an email response from the company at 8:09am asking if I'm available for a phone interview at 8:45am. I'm like Hellz Yeaaah! lol <of course I didn't say it that way lol>

So I get the call at 8:45am and have a phone interview. I think I NAILED IT ... and I don't think I'm just imagining that fact. The lady who interviewed me is the head of the department and would be my direct boss. Throughout the course of the interview she says "we are really looking for someone with your enthusiasm" then at the end she's like "I'm going to check the CFO's schedule so we can get you in here because the next step is an in person interview with the both of us". Soooo needless to say I was pretty confident about things when we hung up. So I wait about an hour then send a Thank You for phone interview email.

Friday comes and no call or email from her ... so I follow up with a phone call. NOW ... I'm thinking THIS wasn't my best idea but at the time I was thinking it was. So I get her on the phone and she sounds kind of surprised when I say my name. Slight pause ... then she's like I've been soooo busy I haven't had a chance to do anything. As soon as I hear something I will let you know. Which made me feel LESS confident...

As I'm looking for jobs this morning I see the job re-posted with a new "earlier" start date.

Soooooo I'm STILL trying to stay positive but it's kind of difficult at this point. Is this the old "We're just not that into you" orrrrr could it be that she's trying to find more people so she can have several people ready to interview whenever the CFO is free???

Trying to keep hope alive but I feel that it's NOT looking good for this one .... lol

NOTE: This has NEVER happened to me. I usually ALWAYS get the in person interviews. Theeen I'm not chosen!! LOL Never just a phone interview. Maybe she could hear the desperation in my voice?? LMBO
Also ... I'm 1000% qualified for the position, it's like they took the positions details directly from my resume!

Got anything in your past that would raise red flags in a background check? It's been my experience that companies do deeper and more thorough background checks here than anywhere else.

Credit score? They usually check that, too.

Also could be the results aren't in yet. I've found it takes two weeks before the background check is completed.

Could be the CFO is not interested in you or maybe a backlog and waiting it out for more candidates. Sometimes the gears run slow in this town when it comes to hiring.

That's one of the good things about applying at the big casinos. They'll give you updates via their web page. I know that as soon as my application hits "background check in progress," I've got the job.

(They don't do a background check unless they want to hire the applicant.)

There will be the drug test, and the two week wait on that. But I've been around this particular block a few times.

In the meantime, MovingOn, keep applying at other companies. Be in a position where they call you up and you tell them, "No, I've already secured employment. Thank you for your interest."

It will make your day the first time you get to say that in Las Vegas.

This isn't my first rodeo. This will be my 4th job in the three years I've been living in Vegas. I've unfortunately been the victim of the bad economy on several occassions. That being said believe me ... I didn't stop applying at other places once I had that phone interview. Even though it sounds like a GREAT company and I really, REALLY want that position.

Anywho ... back to the job hunt! Happy MONDAAAAY! :-)

How can they perform a background check with just your resume and after a phone interview? They don't have your S.S. number and your driver's license number.

-Cheers.

The 6-minute time lapse from sending your resume to getting a phone call from the employer would raise a red flag with me. Background checks, credit checks cost $$$ -- very few, if any, employers are going to waste (even if they have subscriptions) money previous to an in-person interview.
