We have a house in Mountain's Edge and recently noticed there are bats flying around. Does anyone know what kind they are?? They look like they are not afraid of people they were coming in close to us in the pool. Also does anyone have recommendations as to getting rid of wasps around the pool. During the day we have the wasps and at dusk we have bats. We have also noticed bunny's running around in the neighborhood. But all in all we have nice neighbors

Perhaps the bats will take care of your was problem. I grew very fond of bats while living in NJ and seeing them frequently in the NW part of the state while doing amateur geology at mines and caves. Unfortunately, white nose syndrome has killed off many thousands of the bats in the northeast. Hope the population here is healthy and abundant; they are the machines that keep many insects in check.

Coming home to bats, wasps and bunnies are better than coming home to a homeless guy.

We've got some bats that come out of the trees around dusk and swoop down to the pool, then take off. I always thought they were getting a drink of water, but maybe they are hunting insects. We set on the back porch and watch them. Never been a problem. I would leave them be if I were you. They may be doing you a favor.

Good luck,
Croce

Bats are your friends! They are great at keeping insect populations under control. Not sure what kind we have here but we love watching them twittering around at twilight.

They're Romanian invasive vampire bats. It's best if you wear a turtle neck when you go outside.

Yeah, bats hanging around are fine, as long as they're not making a home in your attic or something (this happened to my parents in the Northeast). They like to fly around over water or open spaces because that's where it's easy to find insects.

I see them plenty here in the NW at dusk when walking my dogs in the desert or the park.

I love the bats. When we are walking on the trails at dusk, they are swooping down and eating the insects. Less bugs to bug us.
