[quote=toyojo;1997405]definitely no on my part. im not going to pay the stealership 60 dollars to change my oil. not only that it takes them about an hour and they claim they need to check other things which are not related to the oil change and charge you for that too. QUOTE]

Just got done talking with one of the service advisors at the dealership (stealership ha) I work at. $17.95 oil change plus tax. That includes a 16 point vehicle inspection. Add $25 to that and you get a brake and 23 point inspection, which includes the tire rotation.

I would use the dealership, but they usually require an appointment and if not, still take three times as long as an independent or specialized place.

Unfortunetely, no. Especially Nissan off of Auto Show Dr and there's another dealership, might be Toyolta, but not sure that was really rude and horrible when we went there. Nissan scammed a couple of my friends' badly. the Chevy place is ok, be selective about who you work with. There's an older guy that skewed up our request completely.

I have heard a good place that has a garage in Chinatown. I believe the sign says AutoVegas??? Little hole in the wall garage, but great reps!

The ONLY dealership that I trust with things like that is Saturn of West Sahara. It's comparable in price and speed of service to the quick lubes and they don't try to rip you off. When the quick lubes started ripping us off and charging for things they didn't do, I started going to Wally's and Saturn for that too. We have a Honda and a Saturn, and besides the fact that Honda's last forever, and the Saturn sales policy, we drive those because of Wally's and Saturn for repairs. For tires I would only go to Discount Tire...free flat repair and tire rotation for the life of the tires, as well as good prices and products.

I have a ton of respect for some one who does their own serivce, its saves you money and you learn more about your vehicle than if you just drop it off. My dad always made me do the oil changes on my cars/trucks while I lived under his roof. So I understand your view.

I know us "Stealerships" get a bad rap sometimes, I was just curious what some of your opinions are, we're always trying to expand buisness, so any info we can obtain, good or bad, is worth the effort. The time factor seems to be the biggest issue with a lot of customers and I think that all the dealerships in town are aware of it and are trying to improve in that area. I know we are!!! Thanks for the input all, keep em coming if you wish.

now this is something id like from a dealership ! well my main complaint and bad exp. at a dealership is the staff i had the misfortune i worked with. most of the time when i go there for something (mainly TSB'S) the people i ask treat me as if im stupid. i ask about redeeming the tsb or technical service bulletin and they say "what are you talking about ? theres no such thing" and when i take it for electrical service, they make me feel unwelcome as if ive bothered them a million times about it. it kinda makes a person feel bad when they go to a place get their car fixed and they people that work there treat them pretty poorly and unfriendly. most likely its just where i went to get my truck serviced here in cali. but if i knew all the staff a dealership were cool and made me feel welcome, i wouldnt mind going to them.

about the TSB. i wanted to get a tsb done for tailgate reinforcement and an add a leaf for my truck. but they literally told me "youve got to be kidding" it made me think that they thought i was an idiot or something. i didnt get the TSB until i called a toyota corporate office and brought them a paper stating how toyota installs a certain TSB. after they ordered the parts they said it would talk them a day to do. and when i got the truck back, my tail gate was scratched and my wheels (OEM) were scuffed. so of course i told them and they gave me a bs excuse saying it was already there when i took it in. which i knew was not there because i took pictures before i sent it in for the TSB. after a long battle to just get them repair or replace my parts, they finally did. however i hated the fact that i had to wait and struggle just to get them do what is just right.

so, this is why ive had a bad experience with dealerships haha no offense to you mattangry.

What dealership do you work for?

One thing I've noticed with dealerships is the amount of red tape involved, or I should say the amount of paperwork that they do for even a simple thing like an oil change. I hate standing there with a (usually) unfriendly, cold hearted, cashier waiting for them to print reams of paper and making me sign my life away when all that is the dealer's problem, not mine. It would be nice if the dealers set up their own quick lubes and tire repairs on a drive in - drive out basis. A customer may not want to get a tuneup today, but by building a relationship with the dealer and not getting a hassle for things they don't need, it would build confidence. Then when they do need repairs or a new car you can rip them off later.
