Las Vegas Auto Repair Shops
Does anyone know of a good, reliable auto shop for general car repairs such as brakes, oil changes, etc.? Also, in the northwest area like Summerlin? Thanks, Mike

Avoid Purrfect Auto - they are always in the news for scamming.

What kind of car? Wally's Honda is the only place to trust for Honda only repairs. For Toyota, Wally's son has a place across the street and is honest too. Saturn has an excellent repair service, and they don't try to cheat you, but other than them I wouldn't trust any dealer. Ted Wiens is OK too; especially the one on Rainbow. The manager is a lady that I trust. I have a friend, Phil Dase, who is honest but I don't know where he is working these days. I think he's at one of the Goodyear's.
When I was at Ch 3, 85% of our consumer complaints were about car repairs. When I was with the State of Nevada Employment Security Division I interviewed several former auto service "consultants" and they all told the same story...it was their job to sell people repairs they didn't need and they hated being forced to cheat people.

Precision Tune Auto Care:

Yasmine Wahab - Manager
Family owned. I've used them several times and they are straight up honest & dependable. You'll pay the going rates although they have given me discounts or extra's at N/C but they do good work and can be trusted.

I got some pretty good coupons for Puurfect and was thinking of going just because this has to be the best time to get great service from them. They're trying to rebuild a ruined reputation and under so much scrutiny I think it's worth the gamble.
I had to take my car in because the LV heat claimed my engine's cooling system and Chris's Auto Service on Decatur just south of Sahara has done me right so far. It took them a couple of weeks due to parts being hard to find but they gave me a discount for being patient and it made my wallet happy. If you go, tell them the broken 98 Jetta sent ya.

Actually we have a great guy that is really reasonable and can do all the normal stuff and HE COMES TO YOU! I was so shocked looking for mechanics in the area - and just ran across him on Craigslist - not the most reliable place, I know! But he came out, fixed our breaks - charged up 70 plus parts total for front and back brakes and rotors - wasn't a bad deal at all!
His name is Matt and his # 702-375-8568

BTW - I am not meaning to talk trash - but my brother brought his card to Purrfect Auto and is now taking them to court for not fixing the car. I took my car too - not knowing - when we went there and they were completely rude to us!!!
