I can't remember for sure, but I am 99% sure the clutch is hydraulic.

The slave cylinder is probably going out. Have you noticed any small drips on your driveway, around the transmission area? Can you tell if its brake fluid (Brake fluid is used in the clutch hydraulic system)?

If the clutch isn't slipping when you go up a steep hill, or downshift on the highway to pass another car....then your clutch is fine. A bad throwout bearing won't cause any intermittent problems. It might be noisy if the bearing is bad, but it will still function normally....until it breaks. Then you will have no clutch at all.

If the pedal is "loose", and its hard to change gears... The clutch isn't disengaging completely. Its a hydraulic problem. (Could be a bent fork, but that is extremely rare on a stock vehicle).

I've been a professional mechanic for 15 years. I have worked for several dealers, and the colorado state patrol, working on cop cars. I used to be ASE certified, but I let it expire because I switched over to working on heavy equipment, and no longer felt the need to keep up the certification.

If you'd like me to take a look at it, I would be happy to. I live close to the Red Rock casino, so I'm fairly close to where you live.... Send me a PM if you'd like to talk further.

I was at Carl's today dropping off my van. Carl will do a great job at a fair rate; however, he is down to just himself and his mechanic Mike so he does ask for flexibility in getting it looked at and fixed.

Many, many thanks to m73m95 for helping me out. In very little time (and extremely reasonable $), my clutch system is working again. Thanks a million man!

Nope.

Clutch master/slave cylinder is bad. I bled his clutch to give him a few days/weeks time to get parts. It works like new, until enough fluid leaks out enough to form another air bubble.
