Granted, you should come in with a narrowed down list of places and have options in the event you were hoodwinked but there's nothing wrong with doing as much research as possible. Some folks just can't afford to do multiple trips to their new location so put a little consideration into your posts before you belittle someone seeking help in the one of the best places available, the locals forum.
Well sir i didn't belittle anyone, just making a point. before i moved to Vegas i flew out here for three days just to go apartment hunting. i first found an apartment on-line for 460 per month when i got their i just about freaked out at the condition of the apartment. this local forum is great and all but unless the writer has lived in that apartment complex they really have no idea how good it is.

Thanks everyone. As much time as I've spent in Vegas, never saw much in this part or town. Always thought Summerlin was where the rich folks lived.

My friend did fly out once for a series of interviews. I showed her around a little. The company she's working for will pay for her to live for a month in one of those extended stay places while she hunts for an apt. She's working on getting a list of places she wants to check out.

Me, I would be looking for a casita to rent but she wants the apt in the big complex. Don't really understand that one. Also hard for me to believe she had never been to Vegas before. I'm sure she is going to have an interesting time.

I sent her a great condo for rent. She responded back that she hated it. The view from the balcony was depressing. I had to look again and then tell her that was the strip view she was probably paying extra for!

Olecapt,
I'm a licenced Real estate agent in New York State and noticed you are also from the boards. I am moving to Vegas from Buffalo after the sale of my home and rental properties. My wife to be is going through the hiring process with the Clark County school district. I am a Contrator by trade who will be 'winging it'. Bottom line is I would love it if you could help me with apartment hunting. I have an itch for summerlin based upon what I've seen on line. I need a two car garage or place with ample storage. 2 bedrooms at least and somewhere between a grand and fifteen hundred a month would be nice.

help from anyone would be awesome, I would hate to just show up with a U haul, wife and two year old, but im willing as we are adventurous

Hey, olecapt, how's this internet farming thing working out for you; I noticed your last sold listing sold for $40,000, a year and a half ago. Did you get the full 6%, or did you take heirlooms and gold fillings? By the way, 6216 Sidonia does not exist, you have the wrong address on your website---you are the best.

You are the consumate real estate professional. More importantly, you project yourself in a manner that only a renter would find unobjectionable. When did your your last listing sell, March of 2006?

This is a great market for the actual real estate professionals that produce. I could hardly wait to list with someone who can't even get the address of a property right. You're the greatest.

No big deal, I surely would want to pay a 6% commission to a true real estate professional as yourself that can't even get the address right. Good thing the escrow company got the parcel number correct. You are scary.
