I am wondering if anyone has gone to that new swap meet on south side las vegas blvd as yet(past southpoint)? If you've gone, how was it and what type stuff was offered?

I keep meaning to go, but I don't want to be the only knucklehead out there.

I went a few weeks ago and it was pathetic. Maybe 8-10 booths, no food vendors, 2 bouncy things for the kids. As of last weekend, there was nothing there at all. Weird. It could have been a great thing for the south side of town, but it looks like it died due to poor organization. Maybe they'll try to start it up again in the spring? We can only hope.

Maybe too much competition from indoor flea markets, and didn't Broadacres just spend about 5 million dollars in upgrades? I can't imagine for what, but that's what I heard. Broadacres Marketplace and Event Center

Don't know what happened to the new one, but the usual mistake they make is not surveying to find out if their business idea is needed and wanted before they invest in something.

I love broadacres myself... I haven;t been finding much stuff that I really need there, but I love going.

it's just it's way on the other side of town for me.

Probably because it cant compete with Broadacres. People all over the valley go to that swapmeet even in the blazing heat with no shade. I used to go maybe once a month mostly when family/friends were in town. Could hardly ever find a parking spot.

we did the swapmeet the first week it was open... had about 20 vendors... major problem was at the end of the night, you had to take everything down.. nothing left in the parking lot... following morning, set up again.... the organizers were some of the rudest people i have met in vegas... where my booth was situated, i had tons of space.. they tried to squeeze a furniture guy in between 2 vendors across from me so i suggested just go on my side.. he asked the organizers.. their answer was to deal with it....no moving... the second week, they gave the spots for free, less vendors showed up... the 3rd week, there were 5 vendors plus the organizers set up an extra 10 or so tents for themselves to sell the china junk... the food was owned by the organizers, the fruit stand - organizers the bouncy rides - organizers.. very poorly run imo.....

their only advertising source was craigslist to try to get vendors.. in the description on CL, they listed about 40 rules.. no electric available, etc...

downhill from the start... we will be doing broadacres possibly in January since we are booked through December with other events unless more comes up.. who knows...

We had a booth at Broadacres once or twice and it was fun. Wouldn't want to do it every weekend though. I guess it's more of a big deal now.
