Las Vegas has to lead, or it will be irrelevant. There's no reason to come here if we're giving the same odds as the Indian casinos. Sports betting isn't going to entice Joe Gambler when we're charging bux for drinks, paying 6:5 and being miserly with the comps.
At last...somebody gets what I've been preaching! Maybe my slogan is finally catching on.

But it truly was a different time...prior to the mega-casinos, corporate control and the saturation of gaming, not only in the Las Vegas community, but throughout the whole country. Las Vegas may indeed be a victim of outgrowing itself and the times. And as gaming continues to wane, Las Vegas really seems to be struggling to reinvent itself. I worry that if just one major casino on The Strip falls...they may all start going down like dominoes.

Only downtown will survive, if that happens, IMO.

Exactly what I was thinking and trying to say. But before any of that can happen the casino mgmt has to figure out how to make a profit without squeezing the odds and the prices of food and drink. I honestly don't know how/why they need to charge 8 bucks for a beer when it costs them less than a buck to get. Also the 15 dollar hamburgers are starting to get ridiculous. I still think somebody would make a killing with a small stand that sold 3$ beers, 2$ pizza slices, and 2$ hotdogs along with $1.99 shimp coctails.

And the chances that a casino would let a "small stand" undercut them on their property are???
