I got ridiculed on international forums all the time for butchering their local language. Even after college classes. It was going to either force me to learn the language better or never chime in again.

I took the easy way out.

I would think that they would be impressed that you took the time to study their languages vs expecting them to speak English. Bigotry is an ugly sentiment.

I should have said "English is my second language too, I'm from Brooklyn"

Missed opportunity!

How is that funny? Do people from Brooklyn not consider themselves English speaking citizens of the United States? Even people from Jersey are proud to say they speak English.

I think "Trav23" has got to be kidding. Notice the key words here.
"When husband starting putting laminate floor the neighbor above us start stomping really hard." Gee I wonder why

How come when I make an off topic post, I get slammed with a "violation" from the MODS but everybody else can do it with impunity.

That totally sucks.

to the op: I would suggest having a nice chat with the upstairs neighbor over some beer and trying to be friendly.

When a person goes around ridiculing others because of the way they speak, write, or look it only shows the ignorance and low quality of the person that is doing this ridiculing. Some one with low self esteem, and of lower intelligence that wants to find someone that is lower on the totem pole than themselves. However, what it does show, is they are at the bottom of the totem pole themselves, and want to appear to be better than they are.

It is all part of the old bully syndrome.
