You got it exactly right....those machines are backed up and double checked...they can even recall what sequence you pressed the buttons in. You had to have won the jackpot and not realized it in the confusion. No way would the casino pay out if it wasn't verified. Congratulations...and enjoy some extra money for the holidays.

Very neat story.

Let me get this straight...a person comes here to compliment casino workers for being honest and upstanding and SHE gets labeled a thief and not too politely.
Some people just seem bitter....

Tuesday night at Boulder Station a really odd thing happened to me. I had a $5 comp and a $5 bill burning a hole in my pocket so I went to Boulder to squander the money. My plan was to lose the money and leave.

I went to a penny Diamond Point machine called Capricorn Mountain. I played my comp and I was actually ahead. I had $10.09. Then the machine crashed and a message appeared on the screen to call the attendant. I did. First the floor worker came over and then 2 slot techs. The machine was fried and they started replacing cards/circuit boards. After about 20 min I gave up and asked them to give me my money. They couldn't get the ticket to print so they called a supervisor and she paid me.

I went and lost $5 on nickel VP and then went back to see if 'my' machine was fixed. The machine was still open so I went to one on the other side and sat down. Suddenly, there were casino workers all around me asking where I had been and explaining they were all looking for me. My first thought was they were going to accuse me of breaking their machine.....

Nope, they were all smiles and the supervisor pulled a ticket out of her pocket and said if I would give her $10.09, I could have it. It was for $1010.09. The machine had fried itself trying to pay me the jackpot.

Here's the thing. I didn't know I had won and I walked away. Any of those people could have just pocketed the money. I am amazed they were all so honest. And they were all looking for me to pay me the money. I think I like playing at Boulder more now!
After the slot machine locked up and the slot department looked up the machine polling on SDS. Surveillance will verify if it’s a clean hit and the ID of the patron. If the patron abandons the JP. It goes into account holding for 90 days. If the JP is not claimed by the patron. The winning amount goes to NGCB unclaimed TITO account. The slot department would not be able to cash the TITO in for themselves without collusion with the Surveillance department. Slot audit would want verification that the patron was paid if the ticket was redeemed. Just another reason why you want to have your players club info updated.

My job directly involves visiting people who win big (I mean hundreds of thousands to millions) and most of them say they had no idea they actually won at the time. In fact, lots of them say the patrons near them try to convince them they didn't win so they can sit there or some such nonsense. Some people even get up and walk out of the casino. The verification process for a 200k+ jackpot can take upwards of 8 hours to complete but usually at least two hours. Not being honest about the win is simply not an option with the amount of red tape and various people involved. We're not talking about finding a bill on the ground and being faced with a dilemma. The casino folks you encountered either be honest about it or find themselves fired very quickly.

Yep the third agent verification MIC and also the time to run the colbetron. Also if it’s a participation share machine. Getting the vendor out there can be a pain in the @ss.
