People tend to mention how cold it gets here as if it was 30 below instead of 30 above, and that is only for about an hour or two in the early morning about dawn, and it only happens a few days of the year. Not like 30 below in the daytime in other parts of the country. The truth is I have several sweat shirts that I can't wait to wear and seldom ever get the chance. During December and January it might get cold sometimes, but it's nothing at all like the northern climes.

The thing to complain about is how bad our air gets in the winter due to our being in a deep valley with a blanket of air holding in the pollutants and not allowing fresh air in. Most of us locals get all excited when we have a change from our boringly constant sunshine.

Who was it that said, "Everyone talks about the weather, but no one ever does anything about it"? Was that George Washington? Contrary to popular belief among the arrogant younger arseholes on this site, I wasn't there.

It doesnt matter to me what it's like in other states, it all depends on what weather you are used to. I grew up in Vegas so 30 degrees +/- weather is cold for me.

Las Vegas looks flat, but it actually slopes like an alluvial plain from west to east. In the west, near the Spring Mountain foothills, it might be 3000 ft. elevation, but in the east part of town in may be as low as 1500 ft. Cold air, being heavier, sinks. So weather reporters talk about freezing at lower elevations all the time, meaning if you live near Nellis Blvd you're gonna be colder than I am near Durango.

But keep in mind that our weather is so boring the weather reporters make half of it hoping it will be more interesting. Flip between channels when the weather is on and you'll see predictions that are as much as ten degrees different. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard a weather reporter (my wife included) complain that they didn't have anything to talk about...again...for the 100th day in a row.

I see what you mean. It's all relative isn't it?

I want to live somewhere that I never need a coat again. If there is a remote chance of getting down to 18 EVER, I don't wanna do it! LOL

And I currently am up and out in the predawn hours. I leave to go to a kickboxing class at 5:15 AM 5 days a week. Saturday I sleep in and go to class at 6:45.

You guys are overreacting, I can tell you there are more warmer days here than there are cold days. I work outside and I have to endure the temps hot or cold. You can always bundle up and by the time the sun rises its already going to be mild. If you want warm winters, you might want to look at sub tropical or tropical climates.
