Your personal situation puts a bit of a different spin on it. Much of the time, making big life changing decisions on the heels of a divorce/death in family, etc., is not a great idea. If your divorce is really as amicable and a no big deal as you say, then perhaps that rule doesn't enter in to the equation. In the end, only you can make this decision, without regard to all the advice you've received here. Good luck!
They are not willing to negotiate, just told me it's an entry level position, and since they are adding on two more properties there will be room to advance. My hindrance is I have never worked in gaming, strictly software, thus I have found I get pigeonholed into entry level. In addition to my offer, I had another interview with MGM today doing something similar, but it is also entry level (we did not discuss pay).
Unfortunately, for a lot of the positions with the hotels/gaming, that gaming and hotel experience is a BIG plus right off the bat if you have it. I can understand why they are offering entry level to you only.
Now there is no way to tell if an entry level job here in Vegas will pay off to decent $$ down the line either.
The big positives are that you lived here before and you have sisters here, so you're kind of familiar with the way things work and the lay of the land. Those are two biggies with most people.
84K down to 30K, well, even with the lower cost of living here in LV, that's a big pay cut to take.
In making your decision, plan for the worst if you move here to LV. Your sisters are your very best source of info. Can they rent you a room for a while until you get established in a gaming company and can earn a bit more pay? If you are frugal, you can live a very modest life here on that salary, but would your quality of life as you know it now, suffer with the move and would you end up resenting your decision to relo to LV?
IMO, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else but Vegas. Why not wait a year and save up as much money as you possibly can during that time. Then go through the process again with applying for jobs here at the hotels. At least by then, you'll know deep down that time hasn't changed your opinion to move and you'll have some $$ to fall back on and supplement your lower salary for a while until you are established here in town.

Whatever your decision, much good luck to you!
Except for housing, COL is about the same.

I haven't really seen much of a decrease in housing cost less one is buying property - I would say rent is comparable unless we are comparing downtown Seattle to Vegas. I found a 1bdrm in a decent area that is costing $650/month - that is about the same here when you live 20 min out from DT. I suppose I could go cheaper but I know safety can be an issue depending on what areas you live.
As far as living with my sisters - well one of them is very transient and doesn't have a place to call home. The other has a studio in Veer - she likes to go out, live the Vegas life. I prefer peace and quiet, live at the gym, read, and like doing outdoor stuff.
I would consider this an extraordinarily bad carreer move. At this point in your life, it should be about two things, saving money, and building your career. In the end, what you're making in your current job will largely determine what you make in the next, If you drop 50K now, you'll likely be 50K down for a long time.
Things are not what they were. It used to be that you can take a career gamble, and if it doesn't work, Easily find a decent job somewhere else, it's not nearly as easy to do that know. What you do now is to position yourself to be where you want to be carreer was at 40-45, and where you want be financially at 50-55 (by which time, if your typical, your career will be running out of gas.) Now if the Vegas job will position you better for that, fine. But with the pay cut, I REALLY doubt that.
And, really, is the job better, or do you just want to be in Vegas?
Well I decided to take the job in Seattle - the gaming company lady seemed displeased and pretty much told me that is the salary I will expect if I want to get into that industry.
My husband and I had a very serious conversation this morning, and while I have no idea if it will work out (that would be my preference), I wasn't ready to haul off a few states away.
Thank you everyone for all your input. I guess it's more techy Seattle work for me Not that I mind, I am a geek at heart.
Just for kicks I sent out a few resumes to gaming companies in Vegas and was extended an offer from one of them today.
If you did it 'Just for Kicks' and got such substantial offers straight away, perhaps staying in Washington for another 12 months and saving some money so your lifestyle won't be impacted so much might be a good option?
You made the right decision careerwise. Vegas has a very shallow pool of tech work, compared to someplace like Seattle. I do corporate IT, and would like to move to Vegas someday. But I won't do it if I have to rely on a tech job to float myself.
And as an industry for a tech worker, gaming isn't where you want to be.

Yes, I but I also do marketing - I do marketing for tech. I always had an interest in doing casino marketing.
IDK - I find myself second guessing my decision already.
