Yeah I know, business is slow everywhere right now in the RE field. Southern California's market isn't much better. I know a couple agents here in CA that said they were making twice as much money as they are now before the bad economy, and that it's tough to make money right now. However, I am really interested in the field regardless and am willing to put in the work and have the patience necessary to learn the biz. Wow, I can't believe it has gotten that bad that people are buying in cash.

Then you should stay wherever you are and become a real estate agent at home.

Being a successful agent is all about networking. The more people you know, the better. The actual nuts and bolts of learning about real estate is trivial compared to one's networking abilities.

It makes no sense to move someplace where you know absolutely nobody and try to start a career that requires having a gigantic circle of friends and contacts.

The thing is that I'm starting from the ground up no matter what because I am only 19 and have never had a career before. Most of my friends and contacts have actually moved to Las Vegas and out of state as well.

Why I'm interested in chosing between Las Vegas and LA is because my mom is moving to LV in about a month and I am debating whether I should go with her and start up my professional career there. I eventually look to buy my own properties in LV and also try to get an apartment there in the meantime because CA rents are wayyy to expensive more me.

Get this, a 2 bedroom apartment in some of the ghettoest cities in LA county and Inland Empire still run about $1,000-1,200 a month, it's insane! The cost of living in the LV area is very attractive.
