Greetings all, I have been researching Vegas for a while now and have decided to settle into Summerlin. That being stated, what are some decent high schools in Summerlin? Thanks in advance for your contributions.

Thanks & Regards,
Nicey

It gets great ratings and reviews from parents but like many public schools anywhere, it is overcrowded.

Just about all schools on the "Great Schools" website get good ratings. You really have no idea who puts those reviews on there, unfortunately.

I have one of my former CASA kids in PV. Overcrowding is not the only problem.

If you get east of Rainbow anywhere near the center almost every school gets a 1-3. Everything downtown gets a 1 and so does the eastside of NLV and LV. It seems only the schools west of Fort Apache, on the far north or south side, or in Henderson get good marks.

Good, and thanks for checking. But you got some really good schools in the areas where you say they only got a 1 or a 3 rating on that website.

Las Vegas Academy.

Las Vegas Academy is not exactly comparable to the others. If you map the schools on their site, the school grades go just about hand in hand with Olecapt's crime map colors. The lower the genral crime in a zip code, the better the schools. That is probably something common in almost any city.

I disagree, but that's the beauty of a public forum. Everybody's opinion counts! I'll be happy when my former CASA child is out of Palo Verde. She was one of the students who used to be bussed in from Cimarron. Made for some tension with the kids in the area sometimes. Thank goodness the foster family she was placed with live in Summerlin.

Thanks for the discussion anyways!

Try this website:

*- 2010-2011 Results - Clark County (http://nde.doe.nv.gov/2010-2011_Clark.htm - broken link)

Just find the school and it will give demographics and AYP designation.
