So are you restricted to listening to the "local" announcers or can you "tune in" to like DW, Larry Mac etc if you rent the headsets (which I plan to do). Thanks

Your headsets are plugged into a scanner. If you know the freq that Fox is broadcasting on, you can listen to the raw feed. If you know the freq that drivers are on you can listen to those. If you know the freq of the track emergency personnel, you can listen to those.

My scanner defaults to the raw feed of the radio broadcast so that is what I normally listen to.

Thank you for the update. How does one find the frequencies?

The booths that rent the scanners and headsets will give you a list.

Thank you Mr.(?) Braun. I greatly appreciate the help. This will be my first race although I've been a NASCAR fan since 2001. Just don't want any issues. I have enough of those in my life right now. Thanks again

When you do rent the headsets at the track the best ones I found were Track-Scan. The booths are right outside the entrances. Some of the other vendor headsets didn't look as good. These headsets also provide ear protection from the roar of the race cars. If you don't use them or ear plugs your ears likely will be ringing the next day.

Their website is track-scan.com. They have frequencies for the cars/drivers as well as Nascar Officials, TV Broadcast and Radio Broadcast. Once you rent the headsets, they will give you a piece of paper with all the frequencies for the weekend.

If you rent the headsets they have a stiff deposit to guarantee return of the unit after the race. Be sure to get and keep the return receipt after you bring the headsets back after the race and check your Visa Bill.

Thank you Packrat. Have they been known to over charge? I mean I keep a very close eye on my money...always. I just wondered if it was common for them to overcharge or NOT return the deposit.

No, their prices are posted. As far as the deposit, I was just saying to make sure you get a receipt as they get really busy.
