You COULD go to jail for it IF that driver had the cajones to push it......

That being said, i HAVE done exactly that when i knew I was longrouted from the airport to the GoldenNugget and the Driver Turned EAST on Trop and drove all the way to BoulderHwy and up to Fremont the the Nugget.....

[I had just ended my 8 year stint as a Drive 3 months before]

When he protested I simply said Take it or Call the T/A and ask em to send out XXXXXXX.

Ya gotta knoowwww when to hold em and know when ta fold em ..........

A better technique would be to tell the driver EXACTLY how you want to go. Then, he knows that you are not a tourist and that you will not put up with that BS.

I had that happen in St. Louis once. The guy was ticked that the fare was only 10 miles OW. Instead of taking me straight home, he wanted to take me downtown first. I told that I had his medallion and could call the St. Louis PD.

You'd probably be in Metro's custody.

We once had a taxi driver take us down the strip from the Wynn to the Bellagio during rush hour traffic. He claimed to have lived in Las Vegas for years but didn't know of any "back roads". He didn't get a tip because he ripped us off. We did file a complaint.

That probably made for an awkward ride.

I tell the cab driver to drive me to my destination backwards, and when we arrive the dude owes me $27.50.
