Scoopie can now pass a a native.
If I'm not mistaken, the sign on the overpass reads "Wilbur Clark's The Desert Inn Blvd." I could be mistaken, though. I'm usually traveling at a fast speed when I pass that sign.

I never call anything "The [Blank]" anyway... Sounds too SoCal for me.

I will be transferring to a position at UNLV from the San Jose area in about 30 days, very excited. A few questions have surfaced in the cranium...

1. Are natives to the area called "Las Vegans"? Seems ironic that the long time locals would have such a meat free moniker, but I dont want accidently refer to them incorrectly.

2. Locals call Tropicana "Trop"? Bad enough I will have California plates for the first 30 days, dont need to sound like a newbie too.

Okay serious questions... (yes the others are quasi stupid/serious)

I have heard from some long time resident friends that Summerlin temps are noticeably lower in the summer? Is this just folklore to get transplants to sound like morons? I have lived in Phoenix and dont think that a few degrees lower will make much of a difference when its 110+, but curious if it is noticeable with topography, wind, just basic comfort at all and worth any consideration when looking for rentals that may be a few dollars more.

Seems Summerlin is where I consistently get positive feedback.

I appreciate any answers, especially those with a morsel of humor... Moves are stressful enough and rarely go as planned, but a little humor during a move can go along way towards enjoying a new location.

Cheers,
5

Welcome! Good to see someone from my hometown! Go sharks!

I live in Summerlin and I love the area but there are other good areas. The best thing to do is experience the neighborhoods yourself and see what suits you best.

Good luck!

Listening to a Vegas radio station I keep hearing about the spaghetti bowl during morning traffic reports. I finally had to Google it.
