We need every new resident we can get. As long as they're either employed or retired and therefore contributing to our economy.

OMG, i posted on here looking for some helpful tips on the topics i listed in my initial post. First off, i never asked about construction work, i stated i was looking for a casino job in security or maintenance. So i guess what im getting at is please if all you have to say is harsh rude comments please do not reply to my post. I have no problem hearing negative feedback on my questions, but please stop the rudeness. Thank You and Have a Great Day

Regional and State Employment and Unemployment Summary

Nevada continued to record the highest unemployment rate among the states, 12.6 percent in December. California posted the next highest rate, 11.1 percent.

Nevada would be the last place I would consider moving to...

What do you think became of the thousands and thousands of construction workers who found themselves without a job in 2007? Those who didn't move, tried to transition into maintenance.

(Casinos are looking for police and military experience for their security guards.)

The biggest problem you're going to face is lack of local work experience. The HR departments don't think you're going to last a full year here.

Hey rob0, I wasnt rude. I was firm. Your original post sounded pie in the sky ignorant, and I wanted to tell you that Vegas is not all flowers and sunshine.

Upstate aren't nearly as bad as those in NYC. I can understand the op's decision to leave after a recent trip to the Capital district (Albany). My father couldn't wait to get out as those winters get old pretty fast.

With that said, the op needs to spend some time here in July/August and be prepared for a challenging job market.

While that is normally the case...this year, winter has been, well...absent...from these parts. The most snow we had was on Halloween, and almost nothing since. Not a speck of snow on the ground, when we usually measure it in feet this time of year. Cold has also been absent, very little, if any...of the single digits...and no negatives. Very weird.
