Higher risk, higher potential payout.

Taking odds at craps is only bet where the house doesn't have a mathematical advantage over you. Odds pay exactly what they should mathematically (6-5 on points of 6 or 8, 3-2 on points of 5 or 9, 2-1 on points of 4 or 10).

1000x times odds mean if you made a $5 pass line bet and the point comes up as, say, 8, you could put $5,000 behind the $5 and win an additional $6,000. If a 7 comes up first, you lose it all.

When i say odds, I dont' mean it the PC way. What exaclty does 1000x odds mean? Higher payout?
Higher payout only if play higher odds. The payback rate on the odds remains the same and is paid at true odds.

If you put $5 on the pass line, you can back it up with up to $5000. The odds pay out the same way whether you back it up with 2x - 1000x.

Example:
Say the point is 5 and it is made by the shooter.

And you played $5 on the pass line, backed up with $10 odds.

You'll get paid even money on the passline (gain = $5)

Plus...You get paid 3:2 (true odds) on you back bet (gain = $15) for a total gain of ($5 + $15) = $20.

If you backed it with $100 (instead of $10), you'd still get 3:2 odds (gain = $150) for a total gain of ($5 + $150) = $155.

If you backed it with $5000 (instead of $10), you'd still get 3:2 odds (gain = $7500) for a total gain of ($5 + $7500) = $7505!

^You probably just have to shop the lines on the games you want to bet on.

Take a short walk off the Strip to the LVH, formerly the Las Vegas Hilton. It bills its Superbook as the world's largest, and it's hard to dispute that.

I usually play at Encore since its a short walk from my place. They have 3x/4x/5x odds and $10 minimums. They also have a 'Feature Bet' which I haven't seen in too many places (I think a few Aria tables have it too.) The longest shot of the three feature bets has a 176:1 payout ratio and I've hit it before

Mathematically, Riviera is your best bet. $5 on the pass line and $5000 odds. You're basically giving the house 6 cents for the privilege of a coin flip. I don't know why they're making this deal. One lucky Chinese billionaire will walk out with the keys sooner or later...

It really depends on what you mean by "best"? Are you talking nicest sports book, best drink tickets, friendliest, what? Hubby mainly does the race book and likes Bally's. He also likes South Point but that is a little further down the strip, almost away from the rest of the hussle bussle . Actually being away from the hussle bussle isn't always bad.
