This has been debated for 30 years and nobody has ever had a solution. But if they want more security they should go back to deputizing the hotel security guards, like they did years ago, and let the hotels take care of it. I don't think that was ever a legal problem; just a political one I think. The cops wanted to have all the fun.

Maybe the visitors should be educated to NOT take them and throw them on the ground and/or wait to toss them into a garbage can if they must take them. I was told that these people are not paid by the number of cards handed out, they make their measly commission from codes on the card. When an escort is called and the code on the card is indicated by the caller it goes to the worker; so it is not in their interest to have visitors take cards and toss them onto the sidewalks and streets.
Are you sure the vistors are "taking" them...or are they basically forced into their hands?

Also, where do you get money for Mental Illness programs in a state that does not collect an income tax? Those programs exist in other states, because they collect a state income tax.

It would be nice but I agree. The First Ammendment will come out on top.
After less than a couple of hours on the strip, it was EASY to spot the pimps and the "working girls."

A friend who goes to Vegas frequently said she has never seen any "transactions." I call BS. She's just not observant enough.

Some are obvious, some are not. One that I saw was quite obvious...a man hugging and kissing a girl who definitley looked the part. He then handed her an envelope and said "Thank you." Come ON!! Or the 2 50-something buisness men walking arm in arm with a gorgeous 20-ish year old black girls with a short short skirt and high high heels. They both had their arms around her. Not very sublte there!

Returning to IP at 3:30 AM, we saw an obvious pimp sitting on a ledge shouting into a cell phone while a scantily clad girl with a black eye stood nearby looking bored. Gee, what do you think happened there?

The surprise element is the best part of the strip. You never know what to expect. This is sometimes good and sometimes bad.

I gotta agree with this. Around midnight on Saturday night there was an asian couple pushing a stroller with two kids < 5years old down Las Vegas Bl by IP.

You gotta have rocks for brains as parents to be pushing a stroller with young kids out at midnight, esp in this part of the strip where overcrowding would be an understatement. Even if they are from another country(which I assume they were), you have to be mindless not to notice what a potentially volitile situation exists in that portion of the strip.
