Has anyone stuccoed a block wall around their property. I was curious how expensive it would be to do, and whether it is possible if the adjoining homes do not do the same. Where would you stop? Half way across the top block?

To me looking at a grey cinder block (even if it is painted.) wall is an eye sore, and wondered why people don't stucco them. But then I don't know the cost involved. Any clue anyone?

Can't answer your question, but I totally agree with the eyesore comment. When we were house-hunting, I turned around and walked out of any house that our realtor showed us if it had cinderblock walls in the back. It reminded me of being in prison. (And I spent time in several.)

A lot of houses have it. All I have been told is, "it's not cheap."

Other than "it's not cheap" I haven't heard any numbers either.

I was thinking of mudding my walls, and then painting them with tan elastometric paint. Anything is better than the Folsom Prison look.

Even just painting the block to match the house might look better than the bare block "Folsom Prison" look. I've thought of doing that, but it's a bit down the list of things that need to be done.

Couple of years ago was $5 to $7 per SF. Probably a little less now.

So if you had say 100 running feet of 6 ft high fence that would be 600 sq. ft. At $5.00 per sq. ft, that would be $3,000 and at $7 it would be $4,200

Many larger lots would be a lot more sq. ft though. Anybody ever have it done? I like when they round the top to give it the adobe look. I have seen some beautiful adobe walls with arched doorways and fantastic Mexican style doors in Phoenix. Front yard courtyards. Love that look. I wonder if some of the older neighborhoods would let you do this to the front yard area, and if there are any older neighborhoods that are relatively safe. (Not mansion type neighborhoods)

You know, I was just thinking, I have known people who have had murals painted on their walls before.

I have also seen people plant shrubbery along the wall and use other things to obstruct the view. You could do some pretty cool things $5000.

I did stucco after my pool was put in last summer. About 130' at 6 foot tall was $880. DM me if you want more details.

My husband and I live in Phoenix (SW Valley-Ahwatukee Foothills area) and are wanting to do something with the god-awful cinder block wall. Would love to hear more about your stucco experience..and hoping that you live here in Phoenix and not in Vegas. Thanks in advance.
