Severe Allergy Sufferer Moving to Vegas...
The title says it all. Would I be okay living in dry and hot Vegas? I know things won't be PERFECT...but living in Texas is killing me...even a couple of notches up from Allergy Hell would be a relief for me right now. Thank you for all replies.

Allergies are really bad here. I know that it does not make sense, but it is true. We have a lot of pollen (when we have rain) and people get the flu every year from allergies. The smog makes it much worse. Many people develop allergies here that never had them before.
I moved here from Texas and was OK until about 1995. For the past 12 years it has been getting worse and worse.

You need to know what you are allergic to.. This climate is superb for some and absolute disaster to others.
If the entity you react to is moisture driven you are pretty much golden. But we have lots of plant pollens and such.
If you don't know check hard. Hate to see you move here and turn blue.

My allergies were terrible in Las Vegas, especially when everything is covered with pollen in the spring. I have been much better since moving to Houston, TX.

We moved from Michigan and all of us suffered from horrible allergies and were on several different meds. I have 2 children with asthma and they were on a lot of medication. Since we have moved here we have been so much better. My youngest still has allergies but no where near what she had in MI. My oldest who had severe asthma now only needs her advair daily and uses the rescue inhaler 1 or 2 times a month. My middle daughter still needs to take zyrtec, but she always seemed to suffer more from indoor type things like dust and dander. I have had absolutely no problems at all and I am completely off allergy meds.

Yeah, I know. I have an allergy test coming up in a couple of weeks so the docs will be able to tell me exactly what it is I am allergic to.
I live in San Antonio, TX right now...and all I know is that with all the rain we've had this year...I have been in complete and utter agony! When the weather clears up, I start to feel better...but once the rain comes back...I'm miserable again.

The only real problem I've suffered has been with the mulberry trees, prevalent in the older NW neighborhoods.

You might be ok if the rain and damp weather is bothering you. I used to have real problems in the spring in Las Vegas when the tree pollens were high. Keep an eye on olive and Mulberry tree readings on your test, those get real high in Las Vegas. If I remember right, your no longer allowed to plant mulberry trees in Las Vegas, but there are many that are grandfathered in.

That's the tree I was thinking of, not the cottonwood.
