Ok have made the decision to move my family to Vegas, currently live in Utah working as a coal Miner. I have spent the last two weeks searching all the job websites i can find for any jobs that a person with my skills can make a decent living off of! Have lots of equipment operating experience, hard labor work, mechanical, welding, etc...

But i am having a hard time finding many of these types of jobs anywhere close to Vegas? I have tried, indeed, career builder, recruiting nevada, monster, bullhorn. Does anyone know of any other websites to look at or am i out of luck?

All of the professions you mention were hit hard by the recession here. There is little demand for much of the work you describe because nobody is building anything, and nobody is hauling anything here besides consumer goods and casino supplies. The rebound here has been in the tourism industry, but until the construction industry shows any sign of life, there is little work for hard labor.

If you do highway construction you may find something, but I would have no idea where you would look for those jobs.

There are various mines around Las Vegas. Have you tried any of those? There more mines down at Searchlight too. If you lived in Henderson or Boulder CIty the commute wouldn't be too bad, maybe 35 miles. There may be a union for heavy equipment operators, but I'm not sure. You could Google it. Lots of highway work going on now, but not much construction.

I don't know about any mines, but I know there are several quarries around Sloan, Jean. I have no idea if they're active or not.

Thanks for all the advice! I have applied for several dozen jobs so far without a single call yet! Most of the jobs haven't closed yet so going to keep my fingers crossed!

If mining's your thing, you're going to the right state. Northern Nevada is having a gold boom at the moment. But forget about Vegas.
