Here's a question: if the government regulates performers, venues, businesses, advertising, etc. outside of the sidewalks, why are those on the sidewalks exempt? Example: If Walgreens can't sell bottled water without a business license and has to collect sales taxes, why should a dude with a cooler be able to sell bottles with water from who knows where on the sidewalk and not collect/report a penny of income? Shouldn't the government regulate more equitably?
Well now, you're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

You said your piece, and I said mine. We disagree.... time to move on.

I have seen the cooler people run when cops are coming. Not so with slappers. Why could they regulate those pedal people years ago? Too dangerous?

And yet another area where you want to forbid felons to work. Where in the world would you have them work?? LOL Handing out cards is not exactly a high profile, high risk position. They don't bother me. They do what they do and they don't push themselves at me. People need to make a living and standing on the sidewalk for 10 hours a day handing out cards in all types of weather can't be easy. At least they are not lazy.

As far as the card slappers, they give the impression of being illegal aliens. If the companies that hire them (if they'd admit to it, because I have a feeling a lot/all of this off the books) want to come up with the I9 forms and have them verified, I'll change my tune, but I'm not holding my breath.

But if they are illegal, they deserve to be squeezed off the strip, and really rounded up and deported. If the companies can hire citizens or legal immigrants who don't have criminal records, they can have them slap all the cards they want.

Default May be a thing of the past soon....

The change is a simple one: It bans peddling on the public right-of-way, which includes sidewalks.-Las Vegas Sun

+1

Casinos already abuse what power they have now. The last thing we need to do is give them more.

Casinos lose (or should I say "loose"? ) millions of dollars a year in lawsuits from abusing patrons civil rights, including assault, false arrest, etc. I've posted numerous links in past threads, like the surveillance video of the valet attendant being tackled, handcuffed, and detained for the "crime" of reporting, in a civil manner, that a slot machine he was playing while off duty was malfunctioning, and all over a petty amount (the guy simply wanted the machine checked and his $50 back that he lost if the machine was determined to be malfunctioning. NGC did determine it was malfunctioning such that it was impossible to win).

They have also done unscrupulous things IMO like essentially creating a debtor's prison by issuing credit, but successfully being able to label it as check cashing in the legal channels. In other words, their credit structure looks like a duck, waddles like a duck, and quacks duck, but when it comes time to collect, they have successfully labeled it a dog, making the debt a criminal matter instead of a civil matter as it should be.

It appears they kept a patron supplied in prescription drugs that he had no prescription for, as well as booze, to the point he peed himself at the table, and took millions from him as another example.

And someone wants to propose we essentially put these folks or entities in charge law enforcement??
