Saw Elvis twice. Took my daughter who was about ten years old at the time, and later took a date. My daughter wanted to hear Kentucky Rain, but just before he sang it, she had to go pee. Poor baby.

I remember seeing it for the first time when I visited in 1993 when I visited The Hacienda at that end of The Strip. There wasn't much down there at that time and I remember The Hacienda being the last (or first, depending on which direction you were going) resort hotel, complete with Wedding Chapel. If memory serves me correctly, it was on the other side, across LV Blvd from The Hacienda...and I believe it was still operating then (?).

just think, that is almost mid strip now, certainly not at the end of the strip. We stayed there once when we flew in on a Sat and that was the only decent place that would accept Sat check ins.

Correct. The far south end of the strip. My ex-husband worked at the Hacienda back in the day, he also worked for the Sands, and I think one other place that got imploded or closed. I was saying, " Honey, no one in the casino industry will ever hire you again, you are the kiss of death."

I remember the dancer with the bullwhip at Crazy Horse.

If you didn't pay attention while she was on stage she would crack it like 2-3 inches in front of your face!

Well my very first trip, I was a little girl and my dad was in the Navy. We were on our way to Florida where he would be stationed until the war ended. Anyway, the first night, we drove from Fl to Vegas. We stayed at the only real decent place in Vegas back then: the Old Frontier, or course later it was the New Frontier as most know. My parents took sister and I out for dinner, deposited us back in the hotel and went gambling for awhile. The next morning, I, of course had heard mom and dad talk about the crap tables so when we had breakfast at a little coffee shop, daddy lifted me up and let me pull the handle of the slot machine. Guess what? I hit a big jackpot ($5.50) and all I could say was; I want to play the crapping machine again. The manager or the restaurant didn't know what to say or do: should her tell the kid to shut up or should he tell the man in the navy uniform to not let the kid play the slots again as it is against the law? I didn't play it again, but I had enough money to buy soft drinks all the way across the country until we got to Florida...I have been hooked ever since.
