Does anyone know where to look for a CNA or nursing job in the Las Vegas area. My wife is looking for a job due to our impending PCS to the Las Vegas area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey-- I know this is an old post, but did your wife ever find a job? My husband is PCS to Creech soon (I think I saw your name associated with a "military moving here" post too), and I am graduating from nursing school soon and will be looking in Las Vegas for RN jobs. Very intimidating since I'll be a "new grad" and I know the employment situation is not ideal here. If you have any follow up info, please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Looked into the VA-- that would be great for me, especially since I'm a veteran myself. They are currently not taking new graduate nurses and not sure if they will be in the near future. I'm also definitely looking at the Valley Health System jobs. I think if I had experience it wouldn't be an issue, but sometimes it's hard to get that first job. Thanks again and wish me luck!

Check out UMC as well. If you are looking to get that initial blooding might as well go to the top spot.

First wife was a Bellevue trained RN who did burn nursing pretty much exclusively in her later career. In my opinion you need to be a little nuts to do that.

UMC might be an easy place to get a job. Not sure what top spots means. UMC has very high turn over rate. Known for being a bad place to work. Not knocking it though. Got a friend who is a PA and works wound care in the burn center at UMC.

UMC is basically the county hospital where all the indigents go.

It's also where the really interesting trauma cases land. I did an externship for my EMT license there many years ago. It was a dichotomy in that I saw some of the best, and some of the worst medicine performed there.

One of our regular board posters just got hired at Sunrise as an RN. You might try there as well.

I was not recommending it as a career choice. But hell the experience you get breaking in.

My wife was a student at Bellevue before they civilized the place. The actually ran floors of 50 or more patients at night under the supervision of a third year student.

It was very bad medicine but led to some wonderfully well trained RNs.

My wife just finished her BSN in May so she also bears the new grad title and sadly, can't find a job anywhere. She's applying to any and every hospital/clinic in the Valley. I believe the count is now 35 rejections. They just absolutely do not want new grads. Right now she's actually considering going to TX for a new grad program for 8 weeks, which would require a new license and bunch other pain in the butt stuff. So come here prepared, LV is not new grad friendly at the moment!!

/Been stationed at Creech for 3 years now.
