My camry broke down as soon as i got here. I have no idea whats wrong. The oil light was coming on but it had plenty of oil. I let it sit all week but today it still wouldnt crank.

Where are some dependable mechanics? Im stuck on boulder hwy next to boulder station so anywhere in that area. Any tips on what might be wrong? Thanks for any feedback

The oil light has nothing to do with the level of the oil, it registers the pressure of it. Your oil pump most likely died, and you continued to drive it with no oil pressure which was a big mistake. It is more than likely that you blew the engine, is now locked up, and depending on the year of the car, is not worth fixing.

Did the car overheat? If the oil pump dies the car will overheat.

Thats what i was starting to think about the engine being blown...it sounds dead. Thank you for the input. Its a 98 with 300k miles on it. Definitely not worth fixing.

Does it crank? If so it is not seized up.

Could be any number of things. If it cranks and does not start there are generally three possibilities...fuel, ignition and air. Air is unlikely.

If it won't crank but the lights dim hard it is possible LVD is correct.

When i turn the key it tries but doesnt come close to cranking. Either just the oil pimp blew or the engine blew because its not starting at all

Appreciate the feedback. I got confirmation from my grandpa that the engine was indeed blown. I will not let this ruin my time in las vegas.

How about water pump? My old car's oil light came on, then the car died on me and wouldn't start. Water pump went out and took the timing belt with it.

Anyone have any mechanics in the area? That's good info for anyone to know.

Yes, scrap metal yards will pay $110 per 1,000 pounds. I have looked in to it as when I finally get rid of my car that is what I am going to do. My car is worth about $250 in scrap metal. I do not know if they offer towing, but you can start here:
