So I was on kvbc.com and the city of NLV to get red light cameras.I live in a city outside of San Diego and there are plenty of cameras(none in my city)I am not a fan of these,I call them "ticket traps"and I believe that cities use them to make money. In the city of SD they altered yellow lights to make them shorter to make more tickets. Also I see people pretty much stop on yellow lights when they could clearly make it and the car behind them almost hits them. The lady on kvbc.com has a point but come on how many of us follow all the rules when driving. So I am clearly anti-RLC's no matter what city they are in.What is your thoughts on it?

P.S.-I have a report I did for a collage English class because my city was close to having them.If you would want to read a copy of that I will send it to you

Sorry, yellow lights are not for racing through. The idea is that it's a warning that the light is going to change to red and to give people ample time to stop before it turns red. The car behind should be leaving sufficient room to stop safely.

Don't they teach this stuff in driver's ed anymore?

Just a point of clarification . . the 09/21/2007 video report states for data collection to present to the state assembly . . with the objective of amending NRS 484.910. Intersection red light cameras and a state lottery would be excellent initiative issues.

People dont know how to drive anymore. They follow too closely and they think they can stop on a dime. Did you know that having a good set of tires increases you stopping power? Most people neglect their brakes altogether and their tires. Plus they are always tring to get around people in traffic when they end up at a red light and its a drag race from there.

Lola Granola:I get what your saying about you are not supposed to speed up;but once again will the car behind you(fallowing close or not) slow down as well? They taught me that but it wasn't really preached.

They shouldn't have to drill it into your head. You were taught it, you know that is what you should do, ergo, you should do it.

A large percentage of accidents are caused by the 16-24 age group, who think they can ignore what they were taught.

I have a bumper sticker that covers that.....it says "If you can read this, My Lawyer is Edward M Berstein" it seems to work.

It is an interesting subject...The AZ DOT report makes it clear that it does lead to more tail end crashes and less T bone/ Left Turn crashes. The claim was that it did very good things in Scottsdale and much less well in Phoenix.

Apparently the intersecton and its parameters make a whole lot of difference.

The radar speed cameras in Scottsdale apparently do nothing good. The speed in that area is apparently not a safety hazard.

It is, of course, a lucrative source of revenue.
