Crime compared to what? One thing i noticed from my present stay in vegas is from what I have seen it's a pretty clean city. I've been taken through some of the "bad paarts" of town and let me say they don't compare to other major cities. The best thing to do is visit LV and just drive around and I thiink many people will be surprised about how the city is preconceived in your mind and the actual city.. It's supposed to be 107 degrees today but I currently like the city and may just make a long term committment..It seems the biggest issues currently is people getting run over by cars..

Each other for violent crime. Las Vegas is moderate - middle third - for violent crime against other cities larger than 200,000 people.

Crime and Crime Statistics are irrelevant overall.. You get certain types of crime in BAD neighborhoods, certain types of crime in GOOD neighborhoods and certain types of crime in middle of the road neighborhoods....

Small towns get certain types larger towns get others...

No one is totally forthcoming with the totals of crime.. Either the police want to keep it different so no one knows the truth so they can work, or the media hypes it up, or the surveys skew it to their advantage....

OP did not state they type of car the have BUT they were concerned over car theft....If you have one of the HOT cars that are on the thief list you may have to be careful..If you don't you could probably park it on the street with the door open and the keys in and they wouldn't take it....

NO place is totally safe nor is it totally un-safe...I used to live in San Bernardino, CA for a few years.. They were MURDER Capital of the US when we moved there....And they are becoming that again.... And I am still alive as are my family... Take with a grain of salt all the "info" you hear and move where you want...BUT do NOT not move somewhere cause the "info" makes you beileve it is not safe.....

.

My car is a 2007 Honda Civic, which tends to get stolen a lot for it's parts.

The site is FULL of people who live in the 'worse' parts of town who have nothing but praise how 'safe' it is.

Stop worrying about where to live, and start thinking how to live.

Jonathan
This has some truth to it. I live in Irvine, California, which is said to be one of the safest cities in the United States, and I always "felt" this area was safe. Until I recently looked at the crime statistics, and noticed that it happens...and it's not entirely rare, just at a lower rate.

It just seems logical to me that if you move to an area that has really high crime rate, your chances of being a victim of crime is higher.
