I'll be heading out to the Smith Center early this evening to take in Emily Bergl's performance in the Cabaret Jazz club at the Smith Center. She's bringing her show, Kidding on the Square, to Las Vegas after first opening in the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel in NYC last year and then taking it on the road.

And then Tuesday, we're heading back to the Smith Center to catch the opening night performance of the Broadway musical, Million Dollar Quartet.

I can't believe how fortunate we are to have a venue like the Smith Center here now. I hope everyone continues to support the programs offered there. Ticket prices are extraordinarily reasonable, especially when compared to similar entertainment on the Strip. For example, tickets to Million Dollar Quartet start at as little as $24.

We are fortunate to have this gleaming jewel of a performance arts center here now. I've been to several performances and enjoyed them immensely. The next performance I'll be attending will be Wicked in September, although there are some others I'd like to go to but I won't be around.

Yes we do; I just hope that the locals appreciate it and support it. The show last night was very good; the only disappointing aspect was the small audience. In fact, the entire mezzanine section was empty except for a couple of people. I hope that there is a better turnout for her show tonight.

I'm beginning to get a little concerned about the Cabaret Jazz venue. I just went online a few moments ago and bought tickets to next Friday's Lucy Woodward performance there. I was surprised to be able to purchase seats at a front row table less than a week before the show. That does not bode well for this show unless there is a rush of last-minute purchases.

At least the Broadway series in the much larger Reynolds Hall seems to be doing better. I spoke with a couple of people last night who said they had wanted to see Mary Poppins last week, but that tickets for all of the performances were sold out. (That show was absolutely fantastic, btw. And I'm not a big Mary Poppins fan.)

BTW, here's a video of Lucy Woodward in case anyone is interested in attending her show. As I noted above, good - no, make that excellent, seats are still available.

I have tickets to Wicked as well, but unfortunately I'm going to miss it because we'll be out of town during its entire run from August to October. We also have tickets to La Cage Aux Folles in August and will miss that as well. But al least I won't lose too much money on them. I made a deal with my pool guy in which he'll provide pool service for the three months that we're gone in exchange for the two sets of tickets.
