In another thread, someone mentioned that a mechanical engineer should already have a job before moving to Vegas. I haven't seen many of these jobs around at all. Where are they?

If you're an ME specializing in building HVAC/plumbing systems, there's plenty of engineering firms to look at- someone's designing all of those casinos, office buildings, etc., right?

If, on the other hand, you're a "gears and cogs" type of ME, you're probably pretty SOL, as Vegas is definitely not a hotbed of tech and R&D.

I have dealt with a few. They are primarily construction related. There are a number of firms locally. You also find them with the government contractors...Yucca, Test Site and Nellis.

You hit the nail on the head. I switched from Mechanical to Civil in undergrad because of the HVAC jobs. With the market downturn there may be less and less jobs too.
