Natural Gas is $6 per million BTU, Gasoline is $17 per million BTU. So gasoline is about 3 times more expensive as natural gas for the same amount of energy. A car that runs on Natural gas is more expensive to buy and you have to drive many miles to justify the expense. That is why fleet vehicles and buses are using CNG. They drive many miles. My electric motorcycle is great and it only costs me $0.003 for each mile.

The price of wholesale gas has dropped from a high of $3.40 to currently $2.64. Gas is going to keep going down.

It is my understanding that diesel went up in price due to the new (couple years old now) EPA "Ultra Low Sulfur" diesel fuel requirement. The Ultra Low Sulfur diesel fuel has to be refined from more costly oil (mainly texas sweet crude rather than dirty middle eastern crude) and the refining process is more involved to decrease the sulfur to low levels.

I've read about some people installing natural gas (CNG) tanks on their trucks. It's pretty easy to convert diesel to CNG. The main problem is CNG takes up alot more space (the tank is much larger for the same amount of fuel). Last I looked the CNG energy equivalent of a gallon of gas was $2.50 here in Vegas.

I guess the truck stops are working hard on getting those put in.

I live in Orange County, California - I'm use to seeing 4.50+/gallon. Recently, I've seen the most expensive gas stations (which were the 4.50+/gallon) drop to 3.98. If I drive a little more, I can find the cheapest gas stations at 3.88. They have dropped, but I doubt it will continue for long.

All I can hope for is that they remain this low while I move to Vegas. That will save me a few bucks.

Last time I filled up, two days ago, it was 2.699. It was $2.499 for a couple years, but has crept up.

I bought a used fleet truck for $4,000. Gas is cheaper. The engine lasts longer. No smog check. No emissions at all.

Fracking is the environmental equivalent of cancer. But it's still better in my mind than supporting OPEC.

You mean $3.75? If you paid $2.75 that would make it cheaper than any other gas station in the country unless you had some deal like grocery store discount.
