Ok, It's a deceptive title.
Since moving here, I haven't found a primary care specialist yet (we used to call em doctors)
But I am running out of my Prescription Blood Pressure medicine.

Can I walk into a 'care unit' and get a New Rx from them?

Thanks

Jonathan

Sure, one of those walk-in "urgent care" clinics should be able to take care of that situation. Go in before you run out, and bring the bottle with you, so they can see that you have in fact been prescribed what you are asking for.

If you still have refills allowed you can switch your prescription to a chain like Walgreens. I think if you do that you can refill anywhere.

In the volunteer section on CL there has been an ad for a new clinic in Whitney Ranch that chages $60 for walk-ins with no insurance. Might even be able to phone your old Dr. in NY to call you in a new script.

Does anyone know if a national chain like Walgreens or CVS will refill a prescription from one of their stores in another state? Is that legal?

How about just calling your doctor's office in NY and asking for a new Rx? In fact, if you give them the phone number of a local pharmacy, they should be able to just call it in for you.

I know my dad had a prescription refilled while he was on vacation out of state at a Walgreens.

I called Walgreens and asked, and they said as long as they are not controlled medications (whatever that means) it is easy to transfer a prescription to another location. She said meds like blood pressure and other simple medications are so problem at all
