Some strange headlines going on here - but I believe it's TheHotel At Mandalay Bay (not MB itself) this is becoming a Delano next year. It's also reported that it will be all suite - well, that's becaise TheHotel already is all suite.

Is there going to be a strike at the Mandalay Bay? I just booked into there for the week of 8/27 and I have never crossed a picket line in my life. Hopefully I can find out and change my reservations if there is a strike.

I actually crossed a picket line with permission some 45 years ago. Mean strike...beat up the VP manufacturing crossing the line.

A few of us were advanced development types and needed access to keep some long term experiments going. We talked to a couple of shop stewards and got a dispensation to cross. Had to do it carefully though - you could get beat up accidentally.

And the local sheriff would never notice...Union guys vote heavily in that town.

Unions were created on people's lives. People died for the rights that we all use today..union or not. Minimum working age, 40hr work week, weekends, overtime pay...etc. Its odd to say, but I guess the violence in the streets had a time.

That said, I'm not sure that's the case anymore (Dependent maybe on the issue at stake). The issues are different now days than they were back then. Fighting slave like conditions is a little different than fighting for a $1 raise. However, I'm not going to say that important issues won't come up again....

I've never crossed a line either. When the supermarket chains in Colorado went on strike for 3 weeks, I didn't buy groceries. That was a struggle...
