Kitec plumbing fittings deadline for filing
I just purchased a home that was built in 1988. There are obviously plumbing issues as their are water stains along the baseboard area that are quite severe in several rooms. Since it is in multiple locations, I thought it could be due to faulty fitting by Kitec. Does anyone know the skinny on there re-plumbing and if that deadline has passed or what is involved. I am supposed to close in a little over 3 weeks and my due diligence started today (Saturday) so I need to get on it right away. Do you know who to call?
Thanks for any help.

Come on. Any hint of water damage and you need a professional inspector and likely a mold dude. Water leaks are poison particularly if they are not roof related.
Either get some professional help or drop it.
I too doubt it is Kitec which generally fails by stopping water flow or by flooding the place. Little in between.

Highly doubt a house built in the late 80s has PEX piping and Kitec fittings. You almost surely have copper pipes.
Your inspection report should tell you all about the home's plumbing. You did have it inspected, didn't you???

No, it happened Saturday, and I can't call any companies to set up a time until tomorrow. I don't think the inspector is likely to know where the leaks are coming from without opening up a lot of drywall. Since in several different areas I'm thinking it could be in the walls but in order to locate the source, I would need to have a leak detection company come out. They have the equipment to find the leaks, but they usually charge $600 - $700 just to detect the leak. I need to line one up, right after inspection. Anyone know a reputable company that do this. Many plumbing companies say they do it, but don't have the nec. equipment that the plumbers do that specialize in this.
Other two options: Leak or leaks under the slab (ugh) Last and most hopeful, leaking sprinkler lines. Don't know if any have been run right next to perimeter of house. Anyone know a mold detection company?I have no idea what they charge to come out and do an inspection.
I just came on forum to find post talking about good home inspection companies. There was a good one I read a while back and thought that I book marked it, but alas, I can't' find it, so the hunt begins.

Generally the deadline has passed, but some neighborhoods have a little while longer to file. You can find all the information here:
KITEC® Class Action Informational Website
Though like other posters have stated, it may not be kitec that you have to be concerned with.
Hope this helps,
C

Inspector
I used Alpha Inspection and he did an awsome job. Got a 95 page very detailed report and he charged 375.00. Denise
