If you were driving east on Trop toward Fort Apache (from, say, Grand Canyon or Hualapai), the exit for the beltway is just past Fort Apache.

I have no idea how you got where you did. That's nowhere near U.S. 95.
OP must be really confused.

No not confused.
somewhere I was switched to a north / south road, while I was driving East / West.
They was a accident and metro was re-routing cars, I must have switched directions then.
Most of the time, I look for the strat as my landmark, but I was major boondoggled.

Las Vegas is not the only ones who have screwy streets.. Here in So Cal they have streets that will be running east and west and then they curve because of whatever then they are now running North and South but the name remains the same...

Or they have a street that changes names and then changes back to the original name....

Considering that US95 doesn't come any closer than about 3.5 miles from Tropicana if you're west of the Strip, I'd say you were really confused.

Maybe you got sent north on Rainbow from Tropicana - but you'd have had to drive almost four miles to hit US95. That's a pretty large detail to omit. Are you one of those people who never knows which direction you're driving?

Let's get back on the grid and exceptions topic of the thread, and away from the "conversation" about one person getting turned around one time when the police were rerouting traffic. Thanks!

I've noticed this quite a bit too, it really throws you for a loop. Then you have the Rampart/Durango thingee. Crazy really.

If you want to get really confused, try Deer Springs Road. It runs from Aviary Way to Clayton and then ends. And reappears somewhere over by Centennial Parkway in El Dorado or past it. I think it ends again in a field, and reappears further down the road.
So i was like walking down the path, and found a dollar bill all wadded up, and went a little further and found another.
Then Deer Springs also appears off of Aviary way, close to the turn for Aviary Park and it continues to Decatur. I think it ends there, and you would turn left, then turn right near Costco and it reappears there. Not totally sure, but I bet the developers were drinking a lot when they figured out the many places to put Deer Springs road.
Some of the streets here can confuse you more than living in St.George, Utah with the "300 North 400 West" type addresses. All coordinates in the old sections of town. Actual real names in the newer sections.

Be careful when giving general directions as well because the same streets can intersect more than once. I remember looking for "Larry's Villa" at 95 and Rancho, but never found it because I was up north at Ann Rd. In retrospect, probably a good thing

Good point. Saying something is at "the 215 and Decatur" can mean two locations many miles apart.
