Hi Everyone!

Does anyone know a source in Las Vegas area for Melitta or Senseo coffee pods? I would love to find a place that sells them locally and that you can buy by the box and not by the case?

Thanks for any suggestions.

For the Melitta 1:1 pod, here's a hint. On the Melitta website, click on the contact link (there used to be an instant chat link, but I'm not sure it is there anymore). Tell them what you want and there is a good chance they will do it for you.

I told them I wanted a few different boxes and that I didn't want to pay shipping. They waved the shipping charge.

Having said that, I just don't find Melitta's coffee pods to be very fresh. Yeah, they are packaged in individual foil packets, but to me they are sort of stale. The main reason I have the Melitta 1:1 is because the coffee maker was clearanced at $10. I did make my own pods for a while by using freshly ground coffee inside a cut-to-size paper filter. You don't need to seal the sides to make it a true pod.

I have the Senseo. I have had it for awhile, back when I was a tester for it. It was totally free. I just find the pods to be a little costly and only buy them when they are on sale. I think I also have seen the pods at Smiths and maybe Fresh and Easy.

I would make the switch to a French press made of glass. The plastic used in the production of these convenient little pods leaches BPA and other toxins. The plastic mix they use in the pods is not even recyclable so there's another reason to switch.

In the owners manual there is a WARNING saying that the Keurig product "contains chemicals, including lead, which is known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm".

I do have a French Press...that also sits in the back of the cupboard. I may get it out again sometime and start using it again. Thanks for the reminder.
Although, in the Senseo pods, there isn't any plastic. The pods are just round filter paper with coffee inside. But the machine is made with super hard durable plastic.

The Melitta pods are ground coffee inside a paper filter - there is no plastic from which BPA might leech.

Another nice alternative to the French Press made of glass is the Vacuum Pot. I use the setup shown in the following video (a Yama 5 cup pot with a Cona glass rod):

Bialetti Moka Express is my favorite way to make a single cup of coffee.

The plastic cones (funnel looking things) with the paper filter works well for single cups of coffee. Simple, and cleanup is a snap
