If Las Vegas had an NFL or NBA team what would the colors be for the team and what name or mascot would you pick? I have no idea how this is determined with NBA or NFL teams. I know the name is usually somewhat similar to something to do with the region but colors I don't know. I know that UNLV has the red/black/gray colors but I'm not sure of the other Las Vegas based sports teams. What colors do you believe they would be or what would you choose? What name or mascot would you choose for the team be it NBA or NFL?

The XFL Outlaws were Red/Black/Gold, Las Vegas Gladiators ALF were Red/Black/White. The theme might be close to that unless a current team moves here with their own colors already.

Default Green....Green....Green

There are certain principals that are not to be missed.

Green ---Dollar Bill Green

Than you can add another color or two.

Maybe puke pink...with a better descriptor of course.

I am sure we could work something out. Maybe sell the color rights?

Any shade of pink only works here:

There are things in life that should not be whacked.

These are some.

Well in some ways anyway...

Why doesn't Las Vegas have it's own team? I'm not from the area (yet) but I would think that with all the beautiful lights and attractions in the area an awesome looking stadium and team to go with it would be great. I mean boxing's huge (can't wait to catch me a few fights) in the area why not get other sports involved hehe.

The city is just over the edge of the size neccesary to support a pro team - yet it already has plenty of entertainment options.

If you view professional sports as simply entertainment - you will understand why Las Vegas doesn't need or want a professional sports team.

Shoot - here in LA - we do just fine without a pro football team - and you will find threads on the LA CD forum dealing with us not having the NFL here - and how we are are perfectly happy.

Maybe Las Vegas could do just as well with UNLV basketball going back to the kind of recruiting thet Jerry did in the late 80's- early 90's or if the 51's became affilated with an MLB team that was actually interested in winning.

Untill then - the valley will be stuck with what they have - which isn't so bad - all things considering.

Las Vegas does set odds on most sporting events around the world - and the quality of fight tickets in town cannot be beat.

One reason we don't have a pro team is that the commissioners of the various leagues are afraid that legal gambling will somehow corrupt them, whereas all the illegal gambling everywhere else doesn't. They would rather do business with crooks than lawful businesses I guess. Really, they do know better, but Mr. & Mrs. American citizen don't; so it's an image thing. People are stupid and apparently they want to stay that way.

But the main reason is that we have too many distractions, and all semi pro teams that have been tried here have been financial disasters except possibly for the 51s. So they probably think the same would happen to a pro team.

It all boils down to too much of a hassle and nobody cares anyway.

I wish we could sticky this answer so we wouldn't have to deal with the quarterly "Why doesn't LV have a pro sports team?"

EDIT -- Although I disagree about the "nobody cares anyway" bit. An NFL team would be successful from the get-go. Investors would trip over themselves racing to Roger Goodell's office with wheelbarrows full of money. The stadium would be approved and built in record time. (Although it would be best if we used Green Bay's ownership model.) But it's not going to happen. Never in a million years. Baghdad will get an NFL team before Las Vegas does.
