Hi!
My husband and I are moving to Las Vegas in the next few months. We lived in Las Vegas for almost 2 years from 2000-2002 but we didn't have any school aged kids at that time so schools were not a priority. I just wish we would have bought a house back then!! Now that we are coming back we want to find a good private school incase we find the public schools are not up to par with our standards. We will be moving to the Summerlin area and will be renting for the first 6 months to a year. I did a search and could not find anything on private schools and which ones are considered good or bad. In my research I have found a lot of schools run between $5,500-$7,500 a year for elementary school which is doable if we find private school is the way to go...but the schools that run around $12,000-$18,000 a year are NOT doable for us...especially when all three of our kids are attending. OUCH! If you have any experience or opinions on private schools in the LV area or even want to reccomend going with public school please feel free to educate me. Thank you!! I have had a great deal of fun reading this forumn lately! |

The Summerlin public schools are pretty nice. I would try your local public school first and see if it's up to your standards before throwing down big money on a private school.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear! I spoke with a gal whom I know on-line who lives in LV and she said the same thing. Summerlin schools are good and will most likely suffice. Thanks for your opinion!

I felt like I had written your post. My husband has just been offered a job in Vegas and has already moved. My self and the kids will move as soon as our own house sells (hopefully quickly). We, also, plan to rent for 6 months to a year before buying. Anyway, I went out last week and checked a school in Summerlin called the challanger. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but it appears to be a highly academic school and I was really impressed with the curriculum. Hope this helps. |
