Yuck! I just walked away.

I never really thought of that slogan, until then.
So, to answer your question, you are probably right to some degree.
dudes can be idiots everywhere, so i don't know who much influence a marketing campaign has on it. and the whole "what happens in vegas, yada yada" isn't exclusive to vegas....that has been a motto on nearly every trip to anywhere..esp. if it is w/ friends (what happens in TJ, stays in TJ, etc etc etc). it even gets used at meetings, regardless where the meeting is

you lived down in NYC b4 moving to BUNY, right jfk? you had to see similar behavior at the clubs there. then again, what happens in the apple stays in the apple

i agree w/ bob, though.....you shoulda given him a 'souvenir' of his trip

No, never lived in NYC...but I grew up on Long Island. I do visit NYC for weekend fun, about 4 times a year. I can't say that I've seen the looseness that seems to occur in LV. NYC has really cleaned up its act, thanks to Rudi Giuliani era. He's the one that got 42nd street totally cleaned up by removing all the porn shops and hookers. He got the police force to weed out the riff-raff and become respectable again, he got crime way down, AND he reduced taxes. NYC of the 80's was bad and I bet you'd see some of that behavior back then...but not today. NYC does have quite the marketing campaign always going on...but it's like 'The Big Apple...has something for everyone'.

Yeah, I think Giuliani sent them out your way. Funny thing...when my brother (who now lives in Summerlin) visited the Chicken Ranch in Pahrump, back in 1993...his $300 hooker was from...Brooklyn NY!

$300 to get laid! What a nut!!!

Does this mean if I go to New York City and become a Cocktail Waitress I won't get oogled on? Shucks. Or if I am out and about I won't get propositioned?
Darn, I guess I better stay in Vegas.
(Just kidding)

i'm wasn't referring to hookers etc. (LV definitely has the lock on that). i was simply referring to the guido/chachi/slickster attitude you get from guys who are a little too full of themselves (esp. when talking w/ the ladies)....and the fact that LV doesn't own the rights to that.

i unfortunately haven't made it out to NYC yet (my dad's side of the family are all from LI as well...all transplanted to ABQ). hope to at some point.

Ah, gotcha. If we're talking about Manhattan...it's very respectful and higher class. The word was that LI had alot of good looking girls...but NYC (specifically, Manhattan) had a lot of good looking women. And they sem to be treated respectfully, like true classy women there.

Now, I assume that most know that NYC is actually made up of 5 separate boroughs (sort of like cities that are almost the size of counties!)...Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Bronx and Manhattan. Manhattan (think NYC skyline) is technically an island and is the most classiest part of NYC. While the other boroughs each have their own nice and classy areas (yes, even The Bronx, which was once known as the jewel of NYC), they also have their nasty areas, which drive up NYC's crime rate. Manhattan, on the other hand, is more exclusive, and is actually a very nice, enjoyable, and relatively safe place. I would say that you'd find guys that might be too full of themselves in the other boroughs, and even LI...but not so much in Manhattan. But heck...that's just my own take on it. I would love for you to visit NYC and see for yourself...it is truly an amazing place, just as Las Vegas is, but in different ways. Once you fall in love with Manhattan...it keeps you coming back. Everyone in this country should visit both, Las Vegas AND New York City at least once in their lives.
