Okay go I have been taking my dogs to the G.M. Animal hospital and believe me the money has been flying out the window. They try to sell you more services than you can possibly need - like trying to talk me into surgery for my dog before x-rays and blood tests.

Can anyone recommend a vet in the area that will not try to take advantage of one's love for their animal? Thanks, Denise

We go to Camino al Norte Animal Hospital at Ann & Camino Al Norte. They have never tried to upsell us HOWEVER... my vet Dr. Varella left a few months ago and moved to Florida to open a practice... but so far they have been ok...

Ann Road Animal Hospital has always treated me fairly, and their vets seem to be pretty good.

Ann Road and Camino Al Norte are owned by the same group.

We go to Ann road too. Never have to make an appt. But have to pay in full before you leave. They also have a 10% senior discount. (you, not your pet)

Thanks so much guys. When we took her to Ann Road this morning it turned out that she had a torn ligment which will require surgery. At Grand Montecito they didn't even take an x-ray which would have shown this injury last week and she could have already been operated on. She was seen by Dr. Bullard and we couldn't be happier with him. Thanks again, Denise Tried to give you all reps but said I had to spread them around, so just mental ones for your help

We also go to Camino al Norte, they are very friendly and no problems yet. We gave the Pet Smart Banfield across the street on Craig Road a try first, what a horrible place that is.

So did you just not like the vets at Grand Montecito or what? Because you first complained about them trying to sell you more services than required (surgery rather than x-rays), but then it turns out that surgery was indeed required, so you paid for that plus the x-rays at Ann Road. Perhaps the GM vet was able to make the diagnosis without the costlier x-ray procedure which (perhaps) would have actually saved you money in the long run?

BTW, my experience has been that owning pets = money flying out the window (currently 2 dogs and 1 cat)...

Sorry that I wasn't more specific, by services I meant extra this and that, not things needed for our animals care. Believe me, we will gladly spend the money to have her well. My problem with GM was the misdiagnosis and her telling us to bring the dog back in two weeks. My poor baby would have been suffering all that time and still have had to have the surgery.

Again, thank you all for referring us to a wonderful vet.
