Couldn't you just use a computer randomizer & publish this story every six months? Either that, or use a Wheel of Fortune wheel to pick the reason/phrase:

NV Energy asks for rate increase due to 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'.

In the time I've lived here, this has been as predictable as death & taxes.

All you can do is buy stock in NV Energy so you get a little of your money back, though I found the stock to be under performing when I had some.

We Las Vegans run our AC from what? May to September? and then the heater comes on in November. If they can't manage to be profitable under those circumstances, they need a new group of managers.

At least utilities have to receive blessing from the government before they can ream us. Compare that with cable/satellite TV and cell phone service -- which are essentially public utilities, privately run.

People might argue about cable being a public necessity. But the way I see people constantly head down, staring at a tiny little screen, I think they'd agree that cell phone service is a necessity of life.

I would say that the internet and television (not necessarily cable) are a public necessity. On 9-11 if there were instructions to be passed (which there were in some places) they would be done over television airwaves.

One would think with the great power source of Hoover Dam in our backyards this would never be an issue. Alass.

water company same way...use less water "its a desert out there.." etc, etc...but then their revenues fall and customers end up getting hosed down the line.

Only the customers who use a lot of water. This encourages them to use less water. Our water bill is so small, I wish I could just pay by the year.

(Previous total irrigation failures while on vacation not withstanding.)

Nvenergy and SNWA, these two legal criminals grind my nerves the most. How dare they save conserve, then charge us for doing so! The gall they have. I totally despise these two entities.
