Default Rent an Apartment, House...and Who Do Ya Call?

Just curious--apartment, house or condo?

Let's say...looking at a monthly 2-bedroom rental of $1,000-$1,200 or less. What will that get in terms of availability (and the usual add-ons: safe neighborhood, AC, 2-bedroom)?

And, where's a good, reputable place to go to talk to renting a house, condo or apartment? Any agencies or individuals or such come to the top of the list?

And anyone have any experience with "Craig's List"?

Thanks as always, everyone!

I had my house in Henderson on the market for 6 months before I finally decided to lease it out.

I was unable to find an agent to lease the property. They all wanted to manage the property upon leasing it. Since I lived in town and could handle the rent collection on my own, I really didn't want to pay 10% a month to a managemet firm.

I finally placed the house on Craig's List and got a great response and a very good tennant.

I think Craig's List would be a great place to look if you are thinking about leasing.

We used realtor.com to get in touch with a realtor and ended up finding a beautiful place on Horizon Ridge Pkwy really quick. The site will show you alot about the neighborhood and use msn live maps to see airial photos of the place. Everyone says that 1000 isn't leaving your options open too much but we were lucky to find an owner that was desperate to rent and negotiated him down from 1200 a month to 950 a month. He then gave us a month free because we signed a lease for a year. Give that site a try.

We had bad luck with craigs list however. Nobody returned our calls and the ones who did over-exaggerated about the condition of the places. Good luck.
