Pedestrians could be kicked to curb at The District under new plan - VEGAS INC

That would really suck. I don't make it out to the District often, but I really enjoy walking around it when I do. Henderson residents- time to call your councilmen.

...The new street would have several crosswalks and 21 parking spots on the north side of the road, with another 25 spots on the south, ...
all that for the 21+25 additional parking spaces?

There's some sort of marketing / traffic flow concept in here. In point of fact, that place can be a ghost town at times. I think they think by allowing people to drive in and park down the middle of the mall, it will make the place seem, and maybe even be, busier.

I'm skeptical.

That would be a shame, it's a nice place to take a stroll after eating or seeing a movie

The pedestrian maybe don't actually buy anything except an icecream from Ben & Jerry's. They want customer that are their to buy things.

Otherwise it's a terrible idea.

Unfortunately, the District sells mid-range stuff in a Wal-Mart market. Take Williams Sonoma -- I'll bet 90% of the people here think they sell overpriced, unnecessary kitchen gear. And the 10% of people who think this kitchen gear is necessary, know they can get the same stuff for half price online.

So, William Sonoma's market is people who want quality kitchen products, and are also willing to spend at least double what the item is worth to have it right now.

Most of the rest of the stores at the District fall into the same general category. We occasionally walk through the District when we shop at Whole Foods or have a pizza at Settebello. Most of the time, the area is deserted. And even when it's not deserted, I see a whole lot more "walking and looking" than "buying."

I also see a lot of retail space available for rent.

Back when Fatali had a gallery there, I would go to Lucille's and then buy something at the gallery (even if it was just a calendar). I like William Sonoma because I'm a sucker for kitchen gadgets. I bought a fabulous mandolin there, but my husband broke it, and a high-end potato peeler that was a dream to use, but my youngest stole it (He's a chef in training at CIA) I guess I'd be better off throwing my money in a slot machine
