There's places in Las Vegas you wouldn't want to go ever. But I think you really don't think you'd have a problem walking down the street in any part of town here. Compare it to other cities like LA, Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Memphis etc. There's parts of town where a white boy would put their life at serious risk just by walking down the steet. Forget about it.

Here people would barely notice you.

I don't know about that. I used to teach at Canyon Springs, that area is pretty tough. Not a "zoo", but...pretty close...

It is south of Craig in NLV. It is a perfectly reasonable neighborhood and would look reasonable to anyone. You can however get into real trouble there real fast if you don't belong.

I suspect you might do very badly there.

So...what's the consensus on the Charleston/Pecos area then?

It sounds like certain neighborhoods in LA. I've been in east LA, I.e. Crenshaw/Normandie during the day, eaten at places where I've been the only white guy, but wouldn't dare get out of the car at night.

At Justice Court we could let the tourist mingle with the cientele. I don't think that would be safe at the District Courts.
Municipal Court is the worst!

I wonder what's more scary?

Being the only white person in a major inner city neighborhood?

Or

Being the only black person in a southern backwoods town?

I think I read where they turned Canyon Springs into a magnet school.

Anyway, back to the zoo topic, I think most of the shenanigans that the OP was referring to are on the Strip. It's too bad that most tourists never venture off of it.

My husband was asked by a strip tourist where they could get some good Chinese food. The husband replied "Chinatown is only a couple of miles away." Their response- "Vegas has a CHINATOWN?"
