I love reading about other people's experiences, particularly when I am about to embark on something similar. I am heading out to Vegas in about 17 days and I am excited about the possibilities my new life holds. So, recent transplants, if you don't mind telling us hopefuls about your move, what made you move, how you moved and what life has been like since moving, I think it would be helpful to those of us either on the way or contemplating moving to Vegas.

Also, natives and people who have been in Vegas a while, I would love to hear your stories of Vegas life, too.

My experience would easily compare to this full course drink.

My husband and I got tired of the mess that California has become and decided to retire to Nevada. We were worried about the summer heat, but it was no problem. The spring and fall weather was wonderful and we enjoyed leaving the door open all day long. Our neighbors have been great and very friendly. I have noticed that the salepeople in the stores are much more pleasant than in California and when we have company (which seems like every month) they have commented on this too. I am really impressed by the professionals who work for the state. Every department we have contacted have been super helpful and they have gone above and beyond. Moving to Las Vegas has surpassed my expectations and I only wonder why we didn't do it sooner. Denise

Just moved here in October from New York State retired in July. Started the retirement search 2 years earlier. Why I moved here
1. 300 days of sunshine
2. Taxes no state income tax, property tax only 35% and etc.
3. Location close to AZ,LA,and etc.
4. Entertainment all that you want it come to you and changing all of the time.
5. Cost of living about 1/2 of what it is in NYS.

So far it has been great weather has been above expectations. I found the people very friendly and the retail folks most pleasant. My bones and joints do not ache like they did back east my old dog 13 yrs old has become a new dog he runs around like he is 5 years old. You can travel around LV with ease no 2 hour back ups on the interstate like back east. Driving is a challenge in any major city but much more easy to adapt to in LV. I love the time change being a sports fan I now get my back east teams games early in the the day and the latest they are on is until 9:00PM. No more staying up past midnight and suffering the next day. Many trans plants here so lots of folks to share stories from and they have great info on the areas they are from and stuff to do if you want to travel there. Nevada has many outdoor stuff to do and many are free lots of nature stuff close by. You can go ski boarding in the morning at MT.Charleston and water skiing on Lake Meade in the afternoon. So much more than the frozen tundra I left behind. When you get here just pace your self you can not do everything at once lol. Keep us informed how it goes for you hen you get here.

Nothing like rolling out of bed on Sunday at 10 just in time to catch the NFL early games. And since there is no LA team, we dont get stuck watching a crappy team every week. And I can actually watch the Monday night game and get to bed like you said.

Well you bet there will be an LA team at some point, too big of a market for the NFL to not be in. So enjoy it while it last.

Too many sports books in casinos so every game will be televised no problem.

Yeah they are nice for the games, but if you're a non-smoker not so nice. Plus there is nothing like sitting in your recliner in front of your own big screen TV.

Well it depends on who is your favorite teams some times your team is not televised out here because of regional coverage that is when the sports book comes into play. I do not have ESPN in my cable package so Monday night when the Giants play the Redskins I have to sports book it.
