When I got married, had kids, purchased a home, finished school and bought a vending route.

After that, I thought, Why leave?

I knew before moving here. I never make a big purchase or decision in life without previous exhaustive research. I'm kind of obsessive about every detail, but it helps make for a happy outcome. I've lived with zero regrets since I was a teenager.

For me it was working at Sunrise Hospital. I was x-raying a patient who had his gown on with the opening in the front with his arms folded. He asked me if it was okay if he had these? I remember thinking,"what?" He opened his gown and had breast implants. Coming from a small town fresh out of school. I knew I would never be bored working in Vegas.

We knew the 1st time we visited here, moved here and loved it, had to leave to care for a ill family member that was supposed to take 6-8 months and turned into 3 years. KNEW everyday we were in Ohio that we needed out and wanted to come back and did last year and are never looking to get out again. Kids mentioned Vegas everyday we were gone and are happy to be back because there is so much for kids to do and sports year round. Actually, the schools they are in by Seven Hills are better than in Ohio...

Wife and I talked about escaping cold, expensive Vermont for some time. We had no particular place in mind. A friend/co worker and his wife decided to move here after some research and a visit. At first we thought they were crazy (Las Vegas!!??) then he told us about the suburbs, outlaying areas, etc. I went home and told my wife who also thought they were crazy. I Googled "Las Vegas Suburbs" and found the "Vegas Pictures Thread" stickied here on the forum. We looked online at houses and booked a flight out. The moment we left the strip and saw the city - the mountains, the neighborhoods, everything - we both knew this was the place for us. Met with a Ol' Captain who is now a realtor who introduced us to Vegas and showed us the lay of the land. We flew out 4 or 5 times before we found the perfect house in The Lakes. We've been here just over a year now and love every single day we're here. If someone told me a few years ago I would live in Las Vegas I would have told you you were crazy. We're so glad we found out the "secret" that is Las Vegas. This is definitely the place for us.

When we drove into town as the sun was coming up and went all the way up Fremont and down the Strip. It was July 1964, hotter than H... uh, usual, and it just felt like home to me.
