I'm in escrow on my residence in Henderson. I will keep my office in Glendale, CA and open a second office somewhere in the Las Vegas area. I'm a certified public accountant tax professional. I have been in business over twenty five years.

My practice has many entertainment industry types because of my closeness to the studios and my proximity to the strong creative presence in some of the hipster neighborhoods, like Atwater Village, Echo Park and Silver Lake in the Los Angeles area. However, I do my fair share of plain folk individual tax returns and other small businesses. I was a former IRS agent in the Silicon Valley and have a definite market share of software engineers, too. I specialize in IRS representation with collections, audits, etc. I also do a modest amount of free work for non profits.

Which part of Las Vegas is noted for its tech corridors, if any? I usually do not get walk in traffic. I can see one down side to matching my skills set with where I am living. Trusts usually are important to older individuals and they are not a strength. In general I refer any work I'm not comfortable doing to those who are-specialists.

My industry is relatively recession proof. I really do not care about competition. either. I can be competitive. Virtual office space is a definite possibility the first year. My plan is to relocate my whole practice over a few years. Thanks in advance for input. I appreciate your feedback. I will do my part to regenerate the local economies.

A few tech startups have begun downtown, near the arts district. There is not really a tech corridor per se. Downtown is probably your best bet. With Zappos' relocation there next year (in the former City Hall), there should be a much wider base of potential clients.

The area around Buffalo or Tenaya between Cheyenne and Lake Mead has some tech parks. Lots of medical in that area too, due to the proximity of Mountainview hospital which could be helpful for your business. It's very close to Summerlin which has an affluent population.

There's a fair amount of tech near the airport, and there's a 'tech center' in Summerlin. There's a lot of medical professionals on Charleston, starting at UMC and thinning out as you go west for a couple of miles, if you want to get into that niche.

There's also some sort of tech center (I don't remember what they call it) that I've driven by on Tenaya or Buffalo, somewhere south of Cheyenne. I haven't lived up in that area for a couple of years, so I don't remember exactly where it's at, and I don't know how big it is or if it has high occupancy - I just recall seeing the sign while driving by.

Badura between Decatur and Jones area is called the Las Vegas Digital Exchange Campus. This is where the Switch Supernap Datacenter is - SwitchNAP - The SuperNAP West Coast, Las Vegas Colocation Center

I don't think direct physical proximity will be a big issue for you. There are some office parks in the area just south of the airport. This is a very convenient location from pretty much anywhere in the valley. it' very close to where the 15 and 215 intersect. It's also about five minutes from the area where you'll be living.

The easy access is probably the most important.

So is the intersection of the 15 and 215 in Henderson? Is this an easy drive for most or is there a more central location?

Thanks again for this feedback. I just about have my location targeted now.

Location for your business may not be as significant of an issue in Las Vegas as it might be in the LA area. It is much easier to get around in Las Vegas for one thing, and although the city covers a large area, it is not as spread out as the LA area. Our downtown is being revived but it's not there yet. However, it is where most of the lawyers are located if that makes a difference - as well as being our meager art center which is growing in leaps and bounds. Entertainment is mostly in the "Resort Corridor" which centers around the Strip. But a location for you on or near the Strip might not be ideal for many reasons - locals avoid the congestion, and areas just off the Strip are not the safest in town. Besides, the entertainers themselves are spread all over town.

Your best bet is to find a local Realtor that specializes in office space and put the question to them. Most of us here are just guessing, and my guess is that, like the car business, restaurant business, medical business, etc., it would be best to go where the other CPAs are.

The 215 is the main highway that goes though the heart of Henderson. You didn't say where in Henderson you'll be living, but likely it's not going to be too far from the I-215.

The intersection in question is just west of Henderson, in unincorporated Clark County Just SW of McCarren. The office parks I'm talking about are just East of there, and just south of the airport. If you Google map McCarren, you'll immediately see what I'm taking about. From there, you can get in any direction in the Vegas Valley very easily. You can get on the 215 West, and either go straight to go the southwest part of the valley, or keep going and loop around to Summerlin. You can immediate take the interchange go North on I-15 to downtown, or the northern suburbs beyond, or South, eventually to Cali. You can go East on the 215 back to Henderson. Eventually that will T-bone into I-515/US-95, which will take you to Boulder, and, if you keep going, AZ.

This is very centrally located. And, it's VERY convenient to the airport and The Strip.

It doesn't sound like you need anything more than an executive suite. There are a ton of small (some big) businesses in the airport area and on the other side of the 215 in the SW zip 89118.

You never said what market you were going after though. Personally, if your Glendale office has a constant supply of clients why close it? Why not hire someone to run it? LA is close enough for personal representation and the affluent don't need much of an excuse to come to Vegas if a one on one is required.
