Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate it.
I would be re-locating and working with the corporation I presently am emlpoyed with, which is retail sales management. We have over 28 stores in the Las Vegas vicinity. So, I would have a job paying me 32,000-35,000 a year.

From what I am seeing on the internet in regards to renting....
$800 a month for a place to rent is possible but as you have stated....I don't know what it is like as far as livng conditions/quality.

I have six years experience in management. Previously I worked freelance in the music industry for 18 years. I know Las Vegas to be a very competitive place. Is music and audio post production something I want to be involed in again? Hmmmm after 18 years, I needed a break I would consider it. I do have a 4 year degree in music comp and theory from the University of Pennsylvania. Associates Degree from a recording arts school in Florida. Another Associates degree in computer networking from a business school.

The weather? I've been to Las Vegas in the summer and winter seasons. I do remember wearing a coat and sweater in December of 2004 while visiting I also remember being at a conference last month in Las Vegas with the corporation I am employed by and I could defiantely feel the sun.

I am getting older, have been many places (I loved Australia) and I have learned alot. I wish to continue to do so and enjoy life. Unfortunately living in Central Pennsylvania for too many years (12) I am becoming bored and despondant. It's just not for me and offers little to do.

Regardless, I thank you all again for your time and appreciate it!
Enjoy.
Eric

I wrote a whole huge writeup but then changed my mind to just say this. If you can stand humidity, old people's driving, scientology, bugs bugs bugs, flat boring land, urban sprawl, traffic, hurricanes, and no alcohol sales after midnight, well buddy, Tampa is the place for you. For maybe a $100 less a month in rent you can have all that and more! I grew up in the Ft Lauderdale area and have spent plenty of time in the Tampa area, zero desire to ever live there, but that's just one man's opinion. I will admit I miss the pro sports scene but after hitting up a couple of casinos and realizing I can watch every single game and drink for free, I think I'll manage.

My rent is $772 for a 1/1 townhouse near the center of town. I have great access to everything I want, don't fear crime more than any other citizen, and will be buying a house in about 10 months in hopefully the same area because i like it so much.

Best of luck to you, if you chose Tampa I'll shoot you some good bars and restaurants I like.

I found a place for 895 a month with 1100 square feet and two bedrooms up on black mountain. It is a super area and our neighbors couldn't be better. The veiw from my place is amazing (the pic is posted in another topic). Las Vegas is waaaayyyy more affordable than we thought it would be. I just had one of the best dinners of my life and paid about half of what the same food would have cost me in Denver (the area where i moved from). and gas is about $0.20 a gallon cheaper here. My car insurance company refunded me 450 dollars as soon as I changed my zip code to 89012 and my plates on my car are going to be 130 dollars cheaper than a renewal where I came from. Personally, I think traffic moves alot better here than in Denver. The climate is beautiful (warm here, snow in Denver). I'm a little sad that i have to go back next week to get the rest of my stuff, but I will be back ASAP. Never lived in FL, but I have visited and I know that there are old people everywhere (insurance rates out of this world last time I checked) and bugs that will carry away small children. Good luck on your decision, in my opinion, LV is a great choice.

Yeah, its pretty bad when you have to be careful of those big mosquitos carrying away your kids, but then you've got the alligators that will be more than happy to eat you or your pet free of charge.

The worst thing in Vegas to scare you into peeing your pants would be some of the giant roaches in the summertime crawling through your front door. But you can easily sweep them back out. Not so an alligator. lol

calling a roach a water (or palmetto) bug is like calling a Ford Escort an SUV!
