So the we are moving to Vegas next month and I was checking out Ski Las Vegas, it looks like an decent small place that is close to the city.

How much are the normal lift tickets?

My questions are is it worth it. I was looking at season passes, and even with military discount they are still $350 a year. I know it is close, but there are only 11 runs. We usually go to Keystone in Colorado every year, and I can get a mil discount season pass there for only $180, and I think they have well over 70 runs, heck they have more chair lifts than SLV has runs.

Brian's Head is almost 3 hours away, but is way bigger. I guess that I will have to pay for location.

Brian Head is quite amazing for snowboarding. Lee Canyon is great on those days where you just have to get your ski/snowboard fix, but the quality of the snow is usually very icy and there is no amount of grooming that can replace what mother nature does on its own.

It's been a couple years since I've been to Mt Charleston (Ski Las Vegas), but I believe it was around $35 for an adult non-holiday pass.

I agree that it is usually very icy unless they have fresh powder. I'll pretty much only go if I can go within a couple days after a good snowfall.

And Brianhead is great. You can get there in about 3 1/2 hours and they usually have great snow and lots of well groomed runs.

Yeah, what he said. Plus the 3½ hours to get to Brian Head is an easy drive, almost all of it on I-15, and outside of town there isn't much traffic. I know lots of people who drive up, ski, and drive back in the same day, although I've always spent the night either at Brian Head, in Cedar City, or St. George. A couple of times we've stayed in Parowan.

I recall once that Lee Canyon had more snow than Lake Tahoe. Something like nine feet.

LVSSR is great if you do not have time to spend 6.5 hrs on round trip driving for your snowboarding. Located 45 to 75 minutes from anywhere in the Las Vegas valley, I can drive up even on days I work, and as was previously posted, it is best after 8 plus inches of snow. The dry Utah type snow. They put together a fantastic terrain park every year. Buying a pass is ridiculous as the price is $650 I believe, and some years it is not worth it. They have added many runs including severa lift serviced black diamonds. And 4 double blacks that must be hiked to. Previously they claimed 80 skiable acres but this year it is much more. Also the annual snowfall was 120" as long as I have lived her, but I noticed the website claims 240" now. Not sure if that is because of the 4 higher double blacks, but that seems like a stretch. I am going today as we received 12" in 24 hours!

Went there yesterday with the family and was surprised at how busy it was and how nice the snow was after the 12" of recent snow.

Being a big skier (from Australia) I'm happy having a decent-enough ski resort just an hour away for day trips as I'm satisfied with the runs and difficulty available at Mt Charleston.

However, like people have mentioned, Brian Head (Utah) is just 3 hours away while Big Bear Lake (Calif.) is about the same too and both seem to be pretty good options unless you wanna trek to Lake Tahoe or Colorado.

Don't think I would ever buy a season pass for Ski Las Vegas as the skiing quality is so heavily based on recent snowfall.
